CMR software available to end-users?

If you have questions about custom tuning, are looking for a Powercal tuner, or want to discuss custom tuning in general, this is the place.

Mike, I see what you are saying. Looks like the software is not real vehicle specific and you are left to fend for yourself in certain areas. The trial and error could be quite costly.

It is not trial and error if you use the supplied datalogs and have a general knowledge of how an engine works and why the electronics do what they do. It works really well, but one wrong move and not knowing what to look listen and feel for can be costly.

I will say that as far as I am concerned, if/when it is made available, SRT4 will be the absolute first application released, since as you mention, there are quite a few guys in that community that know their way around these PCMs.

You guys already have a decent collection of tuning notes posted in the CMR section. While they're not 100% they're a very good start. There's a quite a bit of TM info in them I didn't know(ie: friction tq).

Considering the SCT PRP for the DCX was released with no documention, you'd be far ahead of that product even 2 years after it release. btw they've cut the retail price by 1/2 since its release. imo, the lack of datalogging has hurt sales tremendously. Many SRT-4 SCT user have purchased Predators just for datalogging or have abandoned the SCT PRP altogether.

imo a lot of Hemi guys aren't ready for a SU CMR without a lot of handholding(present company excluded) but the SRT-4 crowd is watering at the mouth for it and has its own support systems already in place.

Please Seriously consider a STR-4 release

There are NO notes in the DCX CMR software. 99% of the tuners who open DCX CMR for the first time are COMPLETELY LOST. This includes tuners who have been using CMR for years to tune Fords and GMs, as well as standalone tuners, import guys, you name it.
I suggest you pay me to support DCX single user CMR.

You know I know what I'm doing and I'd have no conflicts of interest because I don't own my own tuning shop.

think about it

nah, definitely won't man... there's been no development even started on a single-user CMR -- and with everything else they have going on, won't even be next year....

That's why they need to let me do the development!

There you go!
giz can handle the software developement side and I'll handle the product support. We contract engineering resourses all the time.

Doesn't really matter though. if the project wasn't in the development plan and budgeted, it'll never happen.

There are NO notes in the DCX CMR software. 99% of the tuners who open DCX CMR for the first time are COMPLETELY LOST. This includes tuners who have been using CMR for years to tune Fords and GMs, as well as standalone tuners, import guys, you name it.

So, IF we released it, we have to come up with some sort of documentation.
Then, we have the problem of 'where do I change my A/F ratio?' or 'how do I reduce TM?'...and we are not at all looking to answer those questions.
There would be NO tuning support, software support only, and it would all be forum based. Even then, our current resources would be stretched thin, so there has to be great demand for it in the market in order to justify the expense on our end of getting the software ready for the public and being able to support it somehow, while still being able to sell it for a somewhat affordable price....tough boat to be in.
Use Ford's nomenclature to label the Ford calibrations and release it without support. Anyone thinking about using any calibration tool must be capable of figuring out how things work. With regard to support, however, how do you provide this to your dealers? Understanding the underlying logic is key to using the calibrations.
