Hi Everyone:
My truck is a flex fuel vehicle. I am not sure if I want to put in the Diablo performance tune in just yet. but if I do, can I fill up with E85 and then install the Diablo performance tune without problems? Or do I need to put in a tank of 93 octane gas for the initial programming? I am not likely to play around with all the parameters for fuel or timing, so does the canned Diablo tune really need to be tweaked?
Thanks

RE: Program HP Tune with E85?
You need to fill up with the E-85 because it's octane rating is somewhere around 103 give or take. After that you need to drive for 50 or 60 miles and then do a log and adjust your LTFTs. It will give you better performance and as a result give you better fuel milage. Just follow the instructions on the link.

Thanks for the response. From reading your post, I am assuming that the answer to my question about installing the performance tune with E85 substituted for 93 octane gas is "yes". It sounds as though the answer to my question about the Diablo Performance Tune needing tweaking is also "yes". I have recieved my Diablo Predator from UPS, but the PC adapter kit is not coming before sometime next week, so I'll have to wait until I get that all set up before I mess with the predater other than for changing the gear ratios to the factory tune. I guess I am somewhat conservative about messing with my ECM anymore than I have to, but, at the same time I must admit I am curious about how much of an improvement a performance tune could make! One good thing is that I have easy access to 93 octane and E85 where I live here in Michigan. There is a station less than a 1/3 of a mile from my home that sells both. It is my understanding that E85 is becoming the new "race" gas with the "tuners" around these parts. E85 costs about $2.39/gallon and real race gas is around $6-$7/gallon so I can understand why the "tuners" would be interested.

You don't really have to have the PC adapter kit in order to get your fueling dialed in. I actually do mine without it. You seem like a smart feller and I'm sure you can understand the concept with the LTFT adjustment. One thing I would suggest is letting 06MonteSS write you a custom tune if you are looking for even more gains. Getting him to write me one is on my short list of things to do. I just have to get my stuff to him. Check out the link.

I would consider having 06MonteSS do a custom install if I decide to pull the trigger and use the Predator performance tune. However, his site says he only writes tunes for non-E85 vehicles. So, I guess I'd be out of luck on that account.
