throttle position percentage question

Post by 01slpsspewter »

I've been having problems for some time now with my car not downshifting above 50mph but it will downshift below 50mph. Thanks to a suggestion by one of this forums members, I checked my throttle position percentage.

With the car NOT RUNNING, and the key in the "ON" position.....when I push the pedal to the floor and hold it there......the max % on the throttle position is only 79.22%

It should be 100% when floored right???

Does this mean I need to adjust my throttle cable?? If so, any info on adjusting my throttle cable would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!

Take the intake off and see if the TB is opening all the way when you have the pedal at WOT.

Oops, I put the cable adjustment instructions in your other post. Since you said it has a new motor in it, it's possible the cable got adjusted wrong. With the GM scanner (tech 2) when you have the pedal to the floor it will show 100% for throttle position. Would think the tuner diagnostics would show the same. Could be you have a floor mat that is stuck under your pedal, not letting it move all the way. I've seen that happen before anyway.

Was meaning in other topic post to ask 06MonteSS or mikel about the ltft adjustment without the computer interface.

I should have been more awake when I made that other post.

yep....it was the cable.....I got it reading 100.1% now, and the car feels insane......i've been driving it for 6 months like this and I thought it was pretty fast...I even beat a few mustangs...lol......but now especially with the diablo tune and now that the cable is right.....it feels sooooo fast.....it shifts sooo hard into 2nd gear, and also when going 40 it will now downshift it 1st gear and burn the tires all the way to 2nd gear!!!!

Thanks rage for helping me and thanks diablo for making a baddass tuner!!!!!!
