U7191 - 2005 GTO

Post by hoffs05gto »

Part # - U7191
Rev# - 9r02
Vehicle - 2005 Pontiac GTO

I cannot get the predator to install any tune packages that come with it. It always starts "reading" the the factory ecu to begin the original backup phase. It always fails at 56% and results in an error "Flash error at 0x12000 on Original Backup".

After that, I have a service vehicle warning on the dash, fuel gauge mismatch error, and a few others. I then cannot even crank the car to start. I have to physically detach the battery connectors, wait a few seconds, and plug it in and then my car is back to normal.

I've made sure the doors are shut and stay shut. The fuses are pulled from 16, 23, 24. No cell phones or lights on. I've read the manual letter to letter and I've googled the internet.

I bought the car used and it has been to the dealer a few times so I'd assume they would possibly reset the ECU while troubleshooting. If not, I guess there's a possibility of left over tunes from the last owner.

you don't have to pull any fuses... unless you have any aftermarket electronics - i.e. alarm system, aftermarket stereo, etc etc...

if everything is stock/factory, then you don't need to pull any fuses.

make sure your battery is fully charged, don't pull any fuses, key is turned on (but vehicle is not running/started up), then try it again...

I double checked it and my battery is definitely fully charged. It's only 2 weeks old too. I already have tried doing it without pulling the fuses. My buddy has an 05 Corvette and I'm going to try it on his and see if it works. If it does, do you think I should get my car reflashed by the dealer?

yeah, if the predator works on his car, then I would say something is up with yours...

you had the key turned to the "on" position, correct?

actually, I found another post from someone that had the same problem - Mike suggested that it's a problem with the predator...

Thanks. I guess I'll check with Diablo on Monday.

Also it failed at the same EXACT spot on my buddy's 05 Corvette and it is completely stock and he's the only owner. He couldn't crank his car either without killing the battery. It has to be the tuner itself at this point.

yep, sure sounds like it...

contact tech support on monday...

it may take a bit of waiting on the phone, since they will be short-staffed this week, due to a bunch of them being at the SEMA show in vegas... but there are still a couple of them there in the office...

so please be patient...
