E85 custom tune help

Post by crzydrumer14 »

Ok so i was reading in a magazine that by doing a custon ethanol based tune with an 02 mach 1 the owner was able to get an additional 20 hp and 30 fpt and better gas mileage. It says that because of the up to 10% ethanol you have to run the car more rich. True? If so, are there any diablosport tuners in the upstate SC area? How much $ would it cost? because i need some better gas mileage. i have a v6 and im getting around 15 mpg driving it easy... Help... Thanks

The end result in the article was a loss in MPG with E85 compared to normal gas. They just decreased the drop in mileage compared to other E85 switch-overs from the past. "Normal" gas has around 10% ethanol in many areas, but E85 has a much higher percentage (In the article, the summer blend they were using was 43.98%) Usually when changing to E85, you have to change to injectors with a higher flow rate. The higher compression in the Mach 1 allowed for using the stock injectors. If you're only getting 15 MPG, there is a good chance something is wrong with your car. The worst MPG I have ever got in my GT was 18 during a car show where I was constantly in the throttle.

Yeah, it sounds like you probably need a tune. Most CAIs require a tune to keep your engine running normal. There is a change in airflow compared to stock that the computer can't compensate for like a new tune can.
