U7193 - 2004 GTO A4 - How to log/update

Hi, I bought a brand new, but older version (i think) predator for my 2004 GTO a bit ago, and want to download the latest update to make sure I have all the latest features. I have software rev. 1.13 and hardware 1.01 I don't know if a newer version would require me to send in the tuner, or hopefully I can update it myself somehow to get a few more features.

I just bought all the cables at radioshack to connect my predator to my PC, and downloaded the PC interface program. Is this how I would update it? Where do I find the actual download to update my tool?

Also, I would love to log and save my cars info onto my predator. This is probably pretty dumb, but is that possible? Or do you need a laptop in the car to actually save it? I downloaded a beta version of the Dataviewer software, but the U7193 isn't listed under it's supported tuners.

The reason I would like to log the data, is that it's really hard to write down the "real time data" while i'm driving around. I just noticed that at WOT i have 2.02 all the way up to 3.64 knock retard. I just want to tune that out safely.

you can not log/save logs with your Predator... you can only view the live data as you're driving. same thing with updating it - you can not update it via internet downloads - you would have to send it back to Diablosport to get it updated.

Do any of the newer versions of the predator allow either of that? I just didnt know if I would beneifit if I updated mine, which would mean sending it in. Thanks a lot!

yes, the newer ones do... mine does... but your's won't, even if you send it in to be updated to the new revision, you still won't be able to save logs or download future revision updates from the internet... although the download page for your Predator says that it may support those features in a future update, it hasn't occured at this point.

Other than a newer one being able to log data, do you know any other features or options i can play with that are not on my version?

Also, does my current predator remove the torque managment on my car? Or does it only remove it if it's an option to remove it while in the tuner, since mine doesn't have that anywhere.

since you have an 04 goat, yes - the predator will remove the TM from the tranny side as well as the engine. You will have access to the tranny settings - shift speed, firmness, etc etc. The TM is removed in the tune itself, it's not an end-user adjustable parameter - but it is removed/reduced in the tune already.

as far as what the differences are between your Predator version and the current update for it, I'm not sure. You have a different model predator for the 2004's - since they have a different computer from the 05's and 06's... so Mike or Johan from here will have to chime in to let you know about that.

Could you tell me if the spark retard i mentioned above should be adjusted at all with my tuner, or is it normal and i should just leave it be.

you could try adding +2% in both PE (Power Enrichment) rpm ranges... giving it that extra fuel may take care of the KR... or you could also go into Spark Advance and set it to about -6% in the rpm range where you're getting the KR...

again, these are the menu items available on my Predator for an 06 vehicle/computer, yours may be different or not be there at all.

Can a Diablosport person respond to my first post? I just don't know if I can benifit with more features/options on my predator if I update it. Also, how do I update it on my computer? I don't know if I should keep my current predator, or buy a brand new one that is actually "brand new" and not "old version, but brand new". Thanks a lot!

you can not update the predator yourself... that particular model Predator does not do remote/Internet downloadable updates. You would have to send the tool back in to Diablosport.

as far as what the update would include for any new features, I don't know that. That would be a question for Mike/Johan...
