`08 Ram Error Codes

Post by Scottsram1500 »

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 QC 4x4 5.7 Hemi. It has a K&N CAI., Long tube headers, An electric fan kit and cat back dual exhaust. I installed the Predator Diablo sport with the 93oct tune. The Predator that I have is the U7137. Recently I started to get error codes. They are as follows:
1. P0151 02 circuit low voltage(bank 2, sensor 1)
2. Po174 System to lean(bank2)
3. P0171 system to lean(bank1)
4. P0159 02 circuit system efficiency below threshold(bank1)
5. P0420 Catalyst system efficiency too low(bank 1)
6. P0157 02 Circuit low voltage(bank 2, sensor 2)
7. P0430 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold(bank 2)
My question is do I need a custom tune due to the mods that are installed or is there something else that I need to do.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Scott

Looks like you have no cats?

ALso, the lean codes may be fromthe headers, or an exhaust leak, double check everything.

Did you cut the o2 sensor wires to extend? That has caused many of those codes.
Also you'll need rear o2 sims to trick the computerfor the hiflow cats. Do you have an air fuel guage? Adding all that might of actually leaned it out. I was get p0153/63 slow response codes but it took about 500 miles to get rid of them. many restes too.

I'd go through all the connections and check everything. Also did you touch or drop the sensors? I'd try some new ones. I got mine from the dealer for $50 each

Thanks Drdred, I had someone else tell me it may take a while for the computer to reset for some of the codes. As far as touching or dropping the sensor, no. Took extreme care not to touch or drop them just for the reason of contaminating them. Also did not have to cut the sensor wires as the long tube header kit came with o2 wire extensions. I got the headers from Dynatech and am very pleased, not only with the install of them but the performance as well.
The issue that I am concerned with the most is the error code P0151 & P0157 which when I looked up the codes tells me this is a short to ground. Also notice a diffrence in idle and gas mileage since these codes started.
Any ideas? By the way, Thanks for taking the time to read this and help me out. :P

Try connecting the sensors without the extensions. I had enough play on mine that I didn't need them as mine is an 08 also. The extensions my have a short in them. Try cleaning the connectors alos. I was carefull with my sensors too but I replaced 2 of them. Seemed to help. I might of bounced them off the header while threading them in. Good luck.

hey guys, I have an 06 hemi, with the dynatech headers, cat back, and cai.. I got one of those code before, bank 2 running lean, slow response from o2 sensor, I ran the 93 tune for a while, but had a few problems with the A/F being right,
had to go with a custom tune, I have been told by diablo the predator tune will run too lean with the long tubers..
I noticed that it ran about 14.7 cruising, and 11.5 wot with just the 93 tune..
But other than that, I havent had too many problems.. truck runs strong.. more problems with data logging than anything else..

Drdred, can't run sensors without extensions. The original factory wire doesn't make it to the new o2 locations. Will check everthing on saturday and clean the sensors while I'm at it. Also as far as a custom tune is concerned how would I go about that and would i get more power out of the truck?

Can you clean sensors? I kinda thought that once you got anti-sieze or something you shouldn't on the sensor tip itself that it was pretty much toast.
