Mike ? on Long Tubes

Post by tomp »

Why is a custom map required for Long Tube Headers? What is it about the base maps (either stock or Predator tunes) that is not able to compensate and causing a custom map to be required?

Please help me understand as I am wanting to install Long Tubes on my H2.

Any major airflow changes made to late model cars requires changes to the tune to optimize the newfound airflow.
Also, longtubes present some issues with the O2s being moved downstream which must be compensated for as well.

Do not be afriad to install the long tubes as I have just installed them on my 2004 Vette and I used the Performance tune in the Predator. Mike did say that he would make me a custom tune just for my car and I'm really grateful for people like him, but until I get the cable and learn how to get it to my computer and send it to him, ( a winter project) I'm having a blast with what the car does Right Now! It runs great! Put them on and have fun.......bob.
