Problem downloading new u7135-9r21.crom
The file was loading on to the Predator but at about 80% complete the Predator locked up and the screen said "Cannot fit entire crom image". I could not move from the screen regardless of what button I hit. I pulled the plug on the machine. I had called but it was at 5 and on call waiting for 40 minutes so I figured you were done for the day. I hope I didn't screw up my original tunes. What's the solution? Thanks

Finally got the new tune in. The good news, Mike at DS was very helpful. The bad news is that after reading the rave reviews here on the forum I'm not thrilled with the performance
First, for anyone who is as computer illiterate as me, never down loaded an update, has an RT and thinks it will take a short time to install you might wind up wasting half a day. Yesterday, originally when I transferred the 9r21crom from the DS website the Predator said that it could not fit the download in. This morning Mike at DS sent me a file BUT it is different than the website. It is 9r21limited. If I remember correctly the original had 8300 bits and the limited had 7300. I went to transfer it to the Predator but now the DS Downloader couldn't recognize the Predator yet yesterday it did. A 2nd call to Mike and he had me change baud settings or whatever but it worked. Tune finally loaded in Predator. Go to install tune in car and now it's telling me I need a calid update. 3rd call to Mike but he talks me through it and I'm ready to go. Thanks Mike.
5 months ago when I first installed the Predator (17crom) the 91 CAI tune was definitly better than the 93 CAI. A month ago for kicks I put the 93 back in and it was awesome, much better than the 91 (anyone know why?). Today I put the new 93 tune in first and my butt dyno was definitely disappointed. then put the 91 in and it felt like my old 91 but not quite like the awesome old 93 from a month ago. Bottom line it didn't feel better, 0 to 60 was slightly less. The only improvement was the MDS kicked in less harshly and the first time I tryed full acceleration from a dead stop I never left such a black patch if that even means anything
Questions: 1)Are all RT owners going to have to use the 9r21limited crom? If so is there less "performance"?
2)If not, why couldn't the original 9r21 crom from the DS website fit on my Predator?
3)Do I have to put more than 30 miles on the engine to see the improvement in performance if it is there in the tune? Thanks

I'd answer but everyone would get mad at me
Just a note though: Butt dynos are notoriously innacurate for measuring actual performance. About the only thing they're good for is measuring the perceived performance of that particular dyno's owner.

tshaw, your tool has different hardware in it that can only fit some much info so diablosport has to make customer like you a special "limited" crom so that the new tunes will fit for your vehicle. The newer predators have more room in them to take the full crom.
RE: Problem downloading new u7135-9r21.crom
I just got it in July so how old can it be, but bottom line, does the limited lack features that are in the full crom?
RE: Problem downloading new u7135-9r21.crom
Age has nothing to do with purchase date but rather when it was made. There is no expiration date on a predator.
the limited croms just removes some of the calibrations that your car isnt using, probably the older ones. It is not limited in any functional way it is just that chrysler has been releasing updates to the cars over the year as well as new software for each model year and make so it starts to pile up. The only inconvenience is that you need to have a special crom sent to you.

Some guys have tryed the 9r21 crom and actually prefer the 9t21c.crom and switched back. If I tryed to download the 9t21c then I still run the same risk of not being able to fit it on my Predator, no? Could I get a "limited" version of the 9t21c? Is there anyway of upgrading the file capacity of the "older" Predators without having to buy a new one? The 9t21c had rave reviews on the Challenger forum.

Yes, you'll run the risk of having the same issues without installing a "limited" version of a CROM. I'm sure if you asked nicely someone with it or someone at Diablo could supply you with the 9t21cLimited CROM.
No, I don't believe there is any way to upgrade the file capacity without buying a new unit, it's a hardware limitation.
