torque converter question

Post by SandMan817 »

I am planning on purchasing a 2600 stall torque converter next week. My main question is, will i run into any problems after i install it? Since the converter will be slipping more than stock, will the computer throw a code and start adjusting pressures? I was talking to my teacher and he was saying that the tcm controls the shift pressures and shift scheduling. ANy info would be a big help

you'll need to get a custom tune created to have changes made for the new/different converter...

what type of changes would be made if i got a custom tune? People on FSC have said that i wouldnt run into any problems after putting the higher stall tcc on but tthey could be wrong.

You may want to raise the stall speed MPH a bit, other than that, it should be fine.

you asked what changes would be made in a custom tune for a TC....the common change most people make is to raise the lockup speed of the converter to avoid lugging on the highway.

my current lockup is around 40 or 45mph. The engine drops down to a pretty low rpm but it isnt lugging it or anything. Would i be fine not having this adjusted?
