What age 7194 hardware is outdated? I'm using hardware that came with 9r08 on an 07 Avalanche, no problems. But when TCM support comes out is the hardware new enough? Is there a hardward S/N that can be checked or date manufactured?

I would go ahead and update to 13 first if possible.

Best way to find out is to try to load the latest crom file.

Mike - I already asked in another post - I'm getting ready to install on an 09 Suburban, 5.3l. The Predator I received yesterday is v 9r11 - do I need to load v 9r13? Thanks.

Same goes for anyone else in this boat, assuming your tool is still under the 2 year warranty.

Thanks
Mike
Mine was purchased 11/04/2007...2 years and 2 months ago.

This would imply that I am "out of warranty".

Am I out in the cold?

--- or do I have the opportunity to do an RMA as well.
Same question... mine is about 2 years and 3 months old. Purchased a few days before my birthday 2 years ago... so I guess it's about 2 years and 3.5 months old now.

And does it not load the latest crom files?

I'm going to say no right now... but I can't really determine if it wouldn't load the CROM itself, or if it won't accept being updated in general (which means my PC has "altered" itself to cause this).

When I tried one of two things would happen...

Load DSDownloader
Send Crom File
It says "Power Cycle" to continue... yet everytime I power cycle, it doesn't go into bootloader mode to take the update.

OR

It gets past the Power Cycle menu, the uploading CROM screen comes up, and it sits there doing nothing.

With that said, I say I can't tell if it will or won't accept the CROM is because it seems to me that if it weren't able to take the CROM, it would say so prior to the CROM installation screen would it not? I suppose I could let it sit there a while and see if it does something... I usually wait 5 or 6 minutes though and it does nothing.

Edit:

Alright, it's sitting on the update crom screen right now (with the uploading bar) and doing nothing. I'll let it sit here a while and see if it ever does anything.

Still doing nothing... also, assuming it eventually does something, should I use 9r13 or 9t14a?

Edit 2:

Ok we have results. After it sat there long enough (the window itself actually froze) a message saying the update was completed showed up. YAY.... until I rebooted it and it told me the hardware was incompatible... so I guess it can't take the new updates, correct?

Feels alot like a punch in the gut to me! Been hanging in there for TCM and now my tool is too old... 2 years and 10 days old. (cant find receipt either)
It's been a great ride and lots of fun, but it looks like I'll have a substantial cash layout for a new tool to stay in the club. I don't like the idea of buying another tool only to have the next chance of TCM pass me by. Once bitten, twice shy!

Okay, on Mike's advice stated above, I tried to load the latest crom file to find out if my tool is in fact outdated and now its locked up. I get the incompatible hardware message and that's it. I cannot connect with DSDL anymore. I was able to find my reciept which is dated Feb 12th 2008 so I submitted an RMA request. I hope to hear from you guys soon as I miss my tune very badly already...

(edit)
Sorry Lew, I read your post about NOT trying to update to 13 too late I guess...

Do I have to call you guys and get the secret button sequence or something?
The way I understand it, if I'm under warranty yet it would behoove me to send it in so I can be able to load future tunes , right?
