U7198 Will not tune

okay so i just got my predator in the mail. it's used from ebay. guy says it's unlocked and so does the predator. version is 2.03.

what it does is when hit "tune it" it goes through the warning screens, asks me what type of tranny, then says communicating. after that is thinks a couple of secs and then goes back to the main screen.

everything else seems to work fine as far as the diagnostics and what have you. what could be wrong.

removed this paragraph because I got my answer on another forum.

okay, one last thing. does this thing require and auxillary power source(ie does it plug into the cig lighter too?) if it does, mine didn't come with the adapter which might be the problem.

This is strange......(I responded to this post on LS1tech as well)...I'll try to look into this for you.

No need for an external power supply when in the vehicle.

nothing else, all it does is go through the warning screens, then it says "please wait, communicating" for a split second, asks the tranny type, then says "please wait, communicating" for about 1-2 seconds, then bam! back to the main screen.

edit: though i don't think it should have any bearing, it is throwing a handful of codes, fuel evap codes, one about manifold press, as well as some unknowns.

FWIW, the product was listed as new, and was sent to me from Accessory World in Charlotte, NC. They are a reseller of yours, and prompted me to give you their number, in case you needed anything from them. 704-537-4004 So there it is just in case it is needed. If nothing else it makes me feel good to have their support so far; seem like a good business.

Not addressing the other issues, you don't appear to have the latest software. You mentioned 2.03; mine is 2.13 .. Did you mis-type or is it actually 2.03?

01Z, i will have to triple check, but i am 99% it is the 2.03.

mike, if this turns out to be too much of a PITA to fix, let me know. I will work something out with the store that sold it to me. (not trying to rush you, just don't want to put you through undue steps)

This COULD possibly be a revision issue, please confirm what revision the tool has.

slap me for being dumb, but how do i check the revision? is that different than the s/w version?

Listed on the top line of the main menu when the tool powers up.

Also, you can select OPTIONS and then scroll down to "About Tool". There you will see both the soft and hardware revision if your U7198 has the same menu system as mine.

hey mike, if i get the h/w revision, what do you think the odds of getting this fixed soon are? I have talked to the guys i bought it from and they are willing to put a RMA claim in, or whatever needs to be done, to get me into a working one. I know you have a ton of requests on this board, and I know I am no more important than anyone else. I was just wondering, since you said it was an odd problem, what the odds are we can get it fixed without sending it back to you guys.

GM03 Version 2.03 is what it reads.

Dont know how I missed this before, but this tells me that this is a U7195, for 03 models.
I would return it and make sure they send you a U7198.
