Lopeing high idle-makeing me look bad
Moderator: mikel
ok but is there a way that the predater could turn off this feature that the ecm does? And just use the idol up feature thats on the predater instead? I mean im all for faster warm ups but my god it sounds so bad and is down right embarassing to have guys here it do it. i mean it makes since cause when the weather is warm they idol smooth and when the idol up is set when its warm out they run smooth??? so why cant they figure out a way to use the tuner to stop the ecm from doing this 3 cylinder thing when its cold, personally screw fast warm ups, give it another 15 mins im in no hurry, as long as she dont lope i think most guys would be happy and willing to wait a few more mins on cold days.
I have been trying different things, i have tried both Beta and Production versions of the Dataviewer and still no luck. Has anyone been able to download any data on this yet? I really wish i could get this to work, perhaps my laptop is just too old.
Mike, has there been any changes? It sure would be nice to know what is going on.

Good luck with your predator... had same issues a few yrs back with my 05, heavy lope.
Installed new injectors removed the predator and the last 2yrs have been lope free!!
Now as for blaming diablosport for engine lope, ya might be barking up the wrong tree. I say this because 2 other co-workers bought 05 Ram diesels at the same time I did, guess what? Their tucks loped at idle just as bad as mine! But I was the only one running a programmer! Theirs were a wee bit worse then mine, I believe the lope is due to exessive idling during winter months, our trucks did a fair amount of idling. Its not because of "bare wires or wiring rubbing on something or other" nor is the "grid heater".
Since replacing my injectors and shelving the predator, I have reduced my idle time to almost 0. Cold weather (live and work in northern Alberta, Canada) start-up I let truck run for a few minutes then slowly drive away for a few miles to warm up. Its been 2 yrs and some 75K miles since installing new injectors and removing the programmer and changing my driving/idling habits and have yet to notice any kind of lope at any temaprature!
Now DiabloSport can send me, my cheque to ....
ps. have a predator for sale cheap... for dodge 05 cummins.

I should also add... for those that are having the "lope" issue to get your injectors checked! Please do not take your truck to the dealer as they really have no idea as to what the are doing! Go to a diesel shop get a "return test" performed. I went first to the dealer with the lope problem, they countered with "unable to duplicate problem" they also had questions about the idle time, which in their words was excessive and it was. The diablo removed/reset key counts which shows the truck having redonkulous idle times, more then what it really was. Because I was unhappy with their findings I went to a local diesel shop and had them go through the truck, they found number 1 injector not flowing and #3, 5 and 6 with poor returns. I bought a set of injectors off them and went home and replaced all 6 injectors. The co-workers both got the shaft from the dealer (they were not running programmers at all) the dealership told both "excessive idling" caused their problems and denied warranty. One guy traded his loping truck in for a duracrap, the other guy gave his truck to his wife and he bought a ferd gasser. I got off alot cheaper, simply swapping injectors.
Oh... I run a Smarty now and like I said no lope at all.
So... get those injectors checked out and reduce reduce reduce your idling times!

I tried u7131-9r04 using both RS-232 and USB-RS232 Prolific cable and driver on the bench and DO NOT get the errors your seeing: (ex.
903939 Error: .\comm\SlipCommunicator.cpp, line 341, CSlipComm::ReceiveXml, PSLIP Receive Failed [Binary Package Size=0]
903969 Error: .\comm\ToolCommand.cpp, line 324, CToolCommand::Execute, Transaction Retry: General error ocurred during data reception.

1000628 Error: .\comm\ToolCommand.cpp, line 324, CToolCommand::Execute, Transaction Retry: Error ocurred during data transmission to the tool.)
What cable are you using? RS-232 or USB/RS-232 convertor?
Also, what PID's are you trying to monitor?

I am using a USB/RS-232 adapter, it works with other accessories i have. I am not sure at this point what PID's i am looking for since i have never used Data logging before. I was hoping that once i got connected i may be able to play around and see if anything stands out when the lope starts after the high idle is engaged.
Ya I have an 03 with the bad lopeing. It was really bad on idle on a cold start when we traveled up north few months ago. I think it sounds awesome! Sounds like its about to throw a piston out of the block, you know its bad ass when you hear that thing get to lopeing. If ya don't like it, get out. ha ha.
