Jesus! Why does this have to be so difficult?!?!?!

I swear! Everytime I go to update my Predator I have problems connecting to the computer! If it worked last time then why can't I make it connect this time? I have loaded, removed, reloaded, rebooted, unplugged, replugged.
I'm about to throw it against the wall !!!!

So, now that I said all that, why would I be having these issues when it worked last time? I have the DL loaded and also the driver that I used last time. The only thing I did not do is remove the DL program and reload it. Should I really have to go through all that to update this thing everytime?

Its definitely not as easy as the competition programmers, sometimes a Windows update helps, its free to try...maybe leave the tool plugged in when you run the update.

Sometimes if you install/uninstall other programs, it canmagically take out your USB drivers, I have seen this happen more than once.

we update predators everyday on the same couple of computers that have changes made all the time and it is NEVER a problem. Every PC is different because other software you are installing or have installed can conflict with USB drivers.

Just a thought, have you thought about installing a serial card onto your computer? It takes less than 10 minutes and the card is synced up with your computer during boot up like any other device installed on your motherboard. The cards cost about $15 on newegg and you can use the old reliable serial connection and not have to worry about USB drivers.

If this is a laptop then you are SOL with the serial card option.

It's not a laptop. Well, the issue seems to be that the driver is not working properly and even removing it and re-installing it is not helping. I guess the easiest thing to do is go to Radio shack and get a different USB cable WITH a driver and try that...

Concoursd, I'm no computer genius so I really have not considered that....

do u have many usb ports,if so try a diferent port,and i think there was a generic driver floating around here somehere for a serial to usb cord,maybe a generic one will work,maybe try unpowering and repowering up the pred while its pluged in,i have had isues but it always seems to work

I have two ports and have tried them both. I have also unhooked the Predator multiple times while in the process of doing this and it does not help. It's definitely something to do with the USB driver. It uploads to my computer but then tells me there is a problem with the install and that I may have problems. When I initially upload it I get the install wizard and it wants to check for updates and find a program to use to run it. It does not give me the DS Downloader file as an option. Is there something else to do at this point?

Well I use this http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/mo ... delID=3914 its an Microsoft approved device thus the drivers for it are approved.

Thanks but I don't want to spend anymore money on this. I actually bought another Predator from a local guy and it's for a friend in Illinois. The price was too good to pass up but it's got the R04 update in it and not the 05. I am just gonna send it to him like this and see if he can update it. My other one already had the 05 tune in it so I really don't need to bother with this anymore.....
