U7146 - older rev. tune question

Post by zenstang »

Hello,

New user, just picked up a predator (love'n it!), with what looks like rev.r07 on it. The only tune is 'diablo performance'....?.......what octane is recommended?

Is this basically a 91 tune? I have a full tank of 93 in there now.

Does Diablosport do any tunning for customers? I only ask as I literally live like less then a mile away - right off Linton.

Thanks!

You are fine running 93 octane even if it was only tuned for 93 octane. At least in my area, they only offer 87, 89, and 93 octane. I haven't seen 91 octane in a while, but there are no ill effects of running a higher octane than "required" for a tune.

I guess I'm looking for confirmation that the old 'diablo performance' tune (the version where there were no 87, 91, 93 octane choices) is indeed the current '91 tune'.

....and what kinda of power increase would I see why by adding those couple of degrees of timing to make it the current '93 octane tune'?

...also - I'm one software revision old,,I like being able to delete my rear O2's.

Does the latest version of software make ANY tuning adjustments (I guess I only have the canned 91 tune now,,but compare that to say the 'new 91' tune in the latest version). Is there a power difference/impovement?

No you will need a custom tune. You might as well update to the 07b version and post an new thread about needing a custom tune. There are vendors here that will be able to help you.

The diablo performance tune in that revision, is a 93 octane tune. I have that revision on my predator and it works well. Don't upgrade and you won't need a custom tune.

Ya,,I'm one revision back from the current one that takes away the rear O2 control.

Cool,,,I have a full tank of 93 in there now.

Is there any 'common' tweaks I can do to this 93 tune? WOT fuel?,,timing? ,,,or just leave it alone. Car is running great currently, but hey if I can squeeze more out,,,,I wanna do it.

How much more power can be had with an email tune over the canned 93 tune? another 10hp maybe?

The last tune that supported OBDII menu was 7R50D. Without a wide band o2 to monitor you A/F tweaking that would not be advised. I have a wide band but I also have a custom tune based off 07b to my mods the reading on the A/F was 12.5. As long as you know you have good fuel starting out at 5 % should be about +1 degree of timing @ WOT.

It's a shame there isn't more written and available on the subject,,,but I guess that would cut into the 'magic' that tuning shops provide.

I'm more interested in getting the live data to stream out the serial port so I can whip up my own custom graphics. I'd LOVE to get my hands on the serial commands for the diablo cause then I could write my own complete GUI for it. Run it on a little laptop next to you,,,probably one of those nice little net books. Hell even an Ipad would rock.

D.S. guys - if ya'll are interested in a newer/mo' betters live data viewer let me know. My company and myself do custom programming for pretty much anything.
