I am planning on upgrading my car to intake, long tubes, 243/z06 heads, an SLP cam with
in: .576" 234º
ex: .571" 228º
lsa: 113
(might go with a different cam, but it should be pretty close to those specs, maybe a little milder)
Does the predator have enough room to allow for these mods. In other words, will I be able to modify the parameters enough to get a decent tune. I think the answer is no, without getting a custom tune, right? I am a newbie to all this, but have been trying to read as much as possible on this forum.
Thanks,
Josh

You are correct in assuming you will need a custom tune.
Get the car to a CMR dealer and they will be able to make that cam drive like stock.
Thanks

Thanks, as usual Mike. Getting that other thing taken care of (eg swapped out)

Another good question by antivenom - that I hope I can borrow into.
After a custom tune, regardless of how radical it is, can the predator still be used to tweak things as though it works in a new range? Hard question to ask so I'll re-phrase. Does the predator tune by percentages of existing parameters or does it have hard data or does it tune with a combination of both?
For example; if I were to add a blower or turbo charger and have it custom tuned, can the predator still tweak that new tune?

Yes, the adjustable parameters in the tool will allow you to adjust any tune including a custom tune.
Thanks

Wow Mike, this is great stuff to know.
What a terrific thing it is to have this moderated forum for support in addition to a faq page. Thanks folks!
I don't think most people into performance realize how powerful these units can be. Most of the inexperienced equate these higher end tuners to lockbox tuner HPPs. They lump them altogether and advocate mail away tunes. It's their loss imho. They're spending about 2/3rd the price of having a tool that can be used every day, any time, as opposed to an educated guess that requires lots of waiting and another cost for each little adjustment to the initial tune.
One reason I keep coming back to the handshelds (I've had 3) is if the engine or tranny starts to bork out for one reason or another, I won't be stuck with a mail order tune until everyone gets on the same page. At least with the predator and another tuning tool I know of, we can re-flash to factory to see where the trouble is coming from. I think I have it right in that I can store an unlimited number of tunes on my PC and call each one back into my predator so I can go back in time to an earlier tune at will....
Sorry for being so verbose, I'm just excited about these evolving tuning tools and the ever better support that comes with them.
