U7191 v8r08 update

Post by MLC4050 »

I updated my U7191 predator to v8r08 and after selecting Performance Tune, an error comes up saying "Unable to read p/n of first calibration file". I restored my stock tune before updating. Have any ideas?

Not sure, sounds like the key was not all the way on.
Double check and try again.

Mike,

My car is an '06. Also, I noticed the error message comes up whether or not I have the Predator plugged into my OBDII port. Is my predator not storing the revision correctly?

So you are saying that when you power the tool up on the 12v power supply, it reads that error message?

You said it is an 06....GTO, SSR or LS4 car?

It powers up fine, with the correct rev at the top showing at the main menu (Performance Tune/Diagnostics/Options). The error message pops up when I select Performance Tune from the main menu (and after the Agree/Disagree disclaimer after programming). My car is a 2006 Monte Carlo SS with the LS4 engine. I also double checked the VIN number - the 10th and 14th digits are 6s.

Edit: Yes this error also pops up when selecting Performance Tune when the unit is being powered by the +12V ac adapter and the OBDII plug is not connected to anything.

right... you can't go into any tune items unless it is connected to the car's OBDII port...

if you just have it connected in your house, via the power adapter, and try to go into anything for the tunes, you will get that message...

the only things you can do via the power adapter and having it powered up in your house and connected to your PC are, download the log files, and import/export tunes... that's it.

If you go to the Performance Tune menu option, you will get the error message you posted about.

Okay, thanks. I didn't know if that was normal or not. Something must be wrong with my predator or OBDII connection. Unfortunately I bought it used. Also, have you tried programming your car with the latest rev (v8r08)?

aah, didn't notice that he said it was doing that when he was connected to the OBD port too... sounded like he was just trying to do it when it was connected to the power adapter...

nope, don't have the 8r07 - and don't have his email address  ... but it can be downloaded here:

Any chance I can get your VIN # so we can try to test this on the bench?
