whats the benefit if any of turning off the tq managment on my 04 sierra. thanks

It gives you the fully available power/torque. GM uses torque management to reduce transmission wear and warranty claims.
Basically throttle response and "off the line" acceleration is reduced and power output is reduced just before and after the transmission conducts a shift. People associate this with "sluggishness". So if you want to feel everything the engine can muster than turn it off but be careful when you are towing as you can reduce the life of your trans if you get on it too hard.
