2005 Corvette with predator

Post by pbm.cc »

I am about to go have the cats removed and I understand that I will be getting the O2 failure code, is there a way I can remove the code using my predator? I think its the 4171 i have. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

not from your end within the handheld. You need a custom CMR tune from Lew "06montess".

yeah... for your 05 vette.. you have a 7191 predator...

and you'd need custom tune to disable the rear O2 codes...

now, there IS a COT enable/disable for the catalytic overtemp protection, and if you remove your cats, you can disable that... and I'm not 100% sure if that also disables the rear O2 codes for ya or not...

you can try that first...

so, when you remove the cats, modify your tune and turn the COT "off"... then drive for a while/couple days and see if you get any trouble codes or CEL...

if you do, then you'll need a custom tune to disable the other codes for the rear O2's...

COT disable does not disable the rear o2 codes. It only keeps the vehicle from richening the mixture when the PCM "estimates" that they are too hot.

hmmm... k...

yeah, wasn't sure about that... I know the option was there for the COT, but I never had to use it for my car, so didn't know if it disabled the O2's or not...

thanks man!

So, ok PBM... you will need to get a custom tune in order to disable the rear O2 codes...

ok well i removed the cats about an hour after I wrote the question about the Check engine light and I realized that there is "NO" rear O2's on my vette... there were just the O2's that are on the manifolds and thats it (those are before the cats) and there are only 2 cats so no "CHECK ENGINE" yet. I will keep you guys updated.

you're gonna want to get on a dyno to get that setup tuned correctly...
