Bought a car about a year ago that came with the Predator. Seller said car had a custom dyno tune loaded. Remember browsing through menu seing title "custom tune". Like an idiot, I didn't read directions and updated the tool to v.9r07b before restoring original backup. Now in the Predator menu I see 87 octane, 93 octane, etc. I don't remember seeing these before the revision update. Also, I didn't change the tune in the car. Am I still able to get the custom dyno tune from the car's ecm by "reading extra tune" in the predator. Just want to make sure I still have that tune. Last tune written says Diablo tune. I don't remember it saying that before the revision update either.

I have posted the tunes I exported from the Predator. The original backup and the extra tune (which I did "read extra tune first) both have the same file name by default (fbfg2ty.frg). What's going on here? Correct me if I'm wrong, but from reading these forums, I don't think the car currently has the original backup loaded because I still have the option to "restore original backup" in the tool and my car's vin # is also stored in the tool. If the original back up was in the car, then the tool and car would still be married, correct? My concerns are I want to make sure I have good backup copies of the original and custom tune and I want to make sure the custom tune is in fact in the car.

rename the files, call one original backup and one extra tune, then reupload them please...

that extra tune i believe his the custom tune you speak of. However since you updated the predator and did not restore the back your stuck with that tune unless you go to the dealer and get a reflash. At that point, i can probably cal file your tune and resend you your custom tune back using your new cal id from ford (if it changes)

The stock tune is stock, and that was exported from the tool, which tells me the tool is married to the car, and should be able to restore no problem, not sure what you mean?

OP, can you flash the car with the Predator right now, as in, it will let you make changes if you want?

I haven't actually tried to make any tune changes with the Predator, just exported the tunes for backups. Also, I did an export of all the tunes before and after I did the revision update. So my origanl backup I exported before the revision update should be good, correct? I want to make sure when I did the revision update I did not replace my custom tune with a Diablo tune. I'm concerned with this because after the revision update, I was able to see the different canned Diablo octane tunes in the menu. Before the menu just showed custom tune. Can you verfiy the original backup is a stock tune and the custom tune is in fact custom and not a Diablo tune? Thank you.

Could on of yuo Diablo tech support guys please confirm that the original backup I have posted in this thread is in fact a good original backup? I'm considering having a new tune made and want to make sure a have a good spare cpoy of the original backup. Thanks

ok, I appreciate your time. Just curious, what's the reason for restoring the original backup before doing a revision update? It did not seem to erase my backup from the tool when I forgot to restore.

Also, under performance tune in the main menu, after doing the revision update I see all of the Diablo canned tunes. Before update I would just see custom tune. Why is that? Also, after revision update, last tune written says Diablo tune. Before update it said custom tune. What's the reason for this?

Not trying to be a pest, just new to the tool and trying to learn as much as I can. You guys are giving me some really good information on here. Thank you.

itll usually lock out the tool

well, it sounds like something bad happened here.. you had a custom tune on the vehicle, and after updating the tool, now it doesnt know what tune is on the car. it sounds like you need to put the old version back on the tool and restore the backup to the vehicle, then update the tool.

Where do I find an old version to put back on the tool? I'm not the original owner of the car/tool. Does Diablo Sport keep records so we could possibly figure out when the tool was purchased and put that revision on there by using serial number on the tool? Maybe the custom tune has some sort of date in the code? It would be great if I could undo my screw up.

What are my options to get this taken care of? What happens if I restore the original backup and then import my custom tune back on the Predator so it recognizes it? Please advise so I don't mess something up.

I seem to have lost support for this issue. Is it better to call tech support? This can't be the first time something like this has happened. Will restoring the original backup and importing my custom tune back into the tool mess anything up? I don't want to guess at this and lock out the tool or car's pcm.
