Wastegate

Post by nc324 »

Does anyone know anybody that has blocked the wastegate off on a duramax, or know how safe or unsafe it is and if it would help me much or not?

Thanx, Nick

Hi Nick,
My knowledge of the wastegate is to bleed exhaust gas to control boost pressure, or to help control pressure. I would not do this unless you add a external wastegate. I have not heard of this in Gas motors, maybe deisel are different now!? But when I attended Cummins Deisel School this was not done!

I appreciate ur input ninja man, down the road it would probably affect my turbo and engine so theres prolly no way ill do it, later on i may go to a big head wastegate, i would like to find a cheaper one though but thas the only one i can find and its like $180 so oh well, if anyone knows anywhere I can get a wastegate that would increase my boost let me know.

Thanx

Does not sound like something I would suggest doing, as it could result in an overboost situation that could damage the motor or turbo.

Thanks
