mikel....help on SLP tuner concerns

This is going to be long so I hope you have time to read and reply....You have helped me a lot with this situation, but now it has taken another turn for the bad. To bring you up to date, I purchased a tuner from SLP for the 99-02 Camaro, it did not provide the tuning parameters for LTFT's or removing the AIR, O2's or EGR, I believe it is because it was rev 2.03, which has got to be a pretty old unit they are selling for big $$. Anyways, SLP agreed to return my money if I send the tuner back to them after I put back the factory tune. So I put back the factory tune, sent the tuner back to SLP. In the mean time I purchased the U7198 from Maryland speed, which I got yesterday and is rev 2.13. I installed it's performance tune into my car, was happy with the results, and glad to see that this tuner was going to give me the tuning parameters I was looking for.

Now SLP called me and said that the tuner I sent them is locked and they have to send it back to me so that I can put the factory tune back into my car to unlock the thing then return it to them again. I am almost 100% sure that I put back the factory tune before I returned the tuner to SLP. This morning I put back the factory tune from the new tuner that I just got so I am back to were I was. My concerns are these:

1) If for some reason I did not put back the factory tune from the SLP tuner, and their performance tune was still in my car, and when I used the new tuner it backed what I thought was the factory tune to it before I installed the new tuners performance tune, will that screw that new unit up or screw up my original factory tune if it is still in the SLP tuner?

2) If I did put back the factory tune from the SLP tuner before I returned it to them and I get back the tuner from SLP and it is locked up for me to, then what do I do?

I find it hard to understand why SLP could not hook up a laptop to the tuner I returned to them and look at what tunes exist in that tuner to verify if my factory tune was still in it....I am very suspicious of this. What other things can lock up a tuner?

OK, I think I know what happened.
There is a tune called 'factory hp tune' in the Predator, which is not the stock tune.
It sounds like you may have installed this tune from the SLP tool and then retuned with the U7198.
No problem.
Since you have restored the backup with the U7198 already, once you get the SLP tool back, choose 'stock tune' from the list of tunes.
It will be the last (bottom) selection on the list.
After the tune is done, the tool should display 'restore and reset done'.

At this point, retune with the u7198, and send the SLP tool back, no prob.
