U7191 problems

Post by mnick »

I have a U7191 that I sold to a customer on eBay this past week. He was misinformed and thought the device came with a 12V power cable and a 9pin serial cable. I instructed him that the actual unit straight from Diablo only came with the programmer, a ruler and an owners manual. Is this not the case?

The other problem I have is the programmer. Since it left here, the customer is claiming it no longer powers up when he plugs it in. He claims that when he plugs this unit in, nothing happens. He's tried to key the car on even, with no results.

He has a code reader as well and has confirmed that when he plugs this device in that the unit does turn on.

He has a few other vehicles that he could try and plug the programmer into to see if it would power them up, should I have him try that?

Any idea what is going on here? Did the programmer simply get damaged during shipping/handling? Can they be fixed?

Thanks

Nick

He has a blown cig lighter fuse.

If the code reader wont power up in OBDII, a Predator will not either ;)

The Predator has never come with the cables (we stopped the rulers a long time agovand started putting stickers invthe box instead).

could be a bad obd2 cable connection, a bad pin in the plug, or maybe a dead screen. All of those things would be require exchanging it for another one or having it repaired under warranty.

The customer already decided to send it back to me.

I was hoping Mike could give me a price on fixing the unit.

I'm just puzzled why the unit worked when I plugged it in before I shipped it and now it doesnt work... Doesnt make sense to me nor the fact that his other O2 reader worked.

did you power it up with a power adapter or physically plug it into the OBD2 port?

I physically plugged it into a vehicle 2 minutes before I packaged it up and mailed it out to verify a) it worked and b) the device was unlocked

weird. I have had a predator go dead on us a week after it was checked during inventory. we tried to re-check the revision and screen wouldnt work. so it can happen but that is the only time in years.

I got the programmer back today... it powered up just fine... I'm not sure what the problem is.

I'll reflash it for him as common courtesy and then put it back in the mail.

He's got to have a blown fuse or something.

I think the customer is not understanding something then.
