Trinity EMI jamming GPS and Key FOB

Post by dgenovese »

Bought a new Trinity for my Jeep SRT8 - love it!!! but, the thing is throwing substantial electomagnetic interferrence (EMI)- my GPS will not lock up sattelites and my key fob for remote start and to unlock will not work more than 3 or 4 feet away- it used to work 300 feet away. when I unplug the trinity everything is fine. are you working the EMI problem???

they have a significant EMI problem- will be interesting to see if they know it, admit it and fix it.

They are aware of the issue, and have been for quite some time. I have been complaining about it for over 6 months. There was a post in the Dodge section where it was causing problems with the TPMS as well, and another in the Ford section. Keep making these posts and ask on other forums if people have noticed the same thing. Maybe that will get DS to actually do something about this.

what's the possible fix besides re-building and sending out new ones?

Thats just it though. This was known about while it was still in BETA. Somebody made the call to release it to the public even though it had a serious known issue. Why?

Ignore it and hope people don't notice? They tried spraying the inside of mine with RF paint, but that didn't do anything.

I am having a Python high power 2-way remote start/alarm installed this weekend...will this EMI problem cause any problems with either the remote start/alarm or with utilizing the Trinity??? Please advise :crashing:

Possibly, the only real way to find out is install it and try. While doing the install I would definitely unplug the Trinity until you make sure everything is installed and working.
The apostrophe does not mean "Look out, here comes an S"!

"I couldn't care less" means it is impossible to care less - "I could care less" just makes you look stupid.

Any update on this issue? It is beginning to become annoying. I can't even use the keyfob anymore unless I un-plug the Trinity.

I also had issues with TPMS today. Right rear tire read no pressure. EVIC suggested maintenance however, the problem has seemed to have fixed itself for now. Now I am noticing that if I do not hit the " halt monitoring " button my battery drains.

It is very disappointing that DiabloSport has done nothing about this. They typically are very good with customer support. It seems as though they were hoping to be like Toyota and sweep this under the rug. As much as I like DS, I really hope this ends up biting them in the ass because they had plenty of opportunity to get this fixed and as of yet have done absolutely nothing about it.

I also find it interesting that several DS employees have made posts on this board since this thread started, but have completely ignored this one.

OK, you guys got me curious so here goes. Three questions:

If you have this stray RF;

Which cable are you using? (standard issue or the right angle connector)

How is your cable routed?

Where is the spare/extra cable located? (eg. coiled up at top/bottom, streched out across the dash, stuffed up under the dash)
