08 FORD 350 6.4L

Post by daddygoose »

not sure if i made a mistake or not. two weeks ago i had a dash light on I so hooked up preditor to check on the light. it was Particulate filter below designed parameters. i cleared the light with the preditor. truck has been preforming fine. the only thing is, it hasnt done a regen in a couple of weeks. not sure if this is a good thing or bad. if its a bad sensor and runs fine i was wondering if i could take a chance and install the DPF pipe and run with better MPG. just hoping for some input.

Removing the dpf is not an option, as the truck will not run if you remove it....if it has not regen'd, it either does not need it, or there could be an issue...if it needs to regen and does not, you'll notice a loss of performance.

Actually Removing the DPF is an option so long as you purchase a dpf delete kit with an emulator for the computer to make it think there is differential pressure on the filter. I also believe the emulator causes the regen to stop, but that I am not sure about. Then you can tune the truck as you see fit. Just google DPF delete any you should see several kits for it. Be aware that if the dealer sees this they may void your warranty.

dpf deletes dont always work as intended. I could be wrong but I believe there is a mileage max point that triggers a dpf regen regardless of the emulator.

well guys. if your like me im trying anything i can to increase the MPG on the 6.4 . currently im getting around 12-14 MPG (unloaded) depending how hard the wind is blowing. im using a can of C-foam about every 3 tanks of fuel and my turbo is staying around 8-10 psi running 70mph. I have the BANKS COLD AIR INDUCTION, Im running the 80 HP boost from the preditor and it seems like every thing on the truck is working like it should, its just a shame someone cant come up with a solution and be affordable to increase the MPG on this truck.

so with that said is anyone out there trying something different and getting more for the buck.

seafoam is some good stuff...its all in keeping that dpf as clear as you can.

new 2011 6.7L Super Duty is reporting 22-24 MPG by the magazines test driving them (with 1000 pounds of cement bags in the bed) going 70MPH. The drive cycle included multiple on ramp merges, bus stops, and in town driving so a fairly good mix of normal driving with a typical load of weight to mimic most tools and gear in the back. Trucks had a 3:73 gear ratio I believe. 80+ miles logged for the test.

Basically ford dumped the NOX filter and is instead using urea injection to reduce nox emissions instead of a filter that has to be regened like GM and Dodge have for 2011.

i am just reporting what the various automotive journalists reported from their testing last month. the fleet averaged 22-24 mpg using the mixed drive cycle with the 1000 pounds of cement bags in the back. It's not ford's figures. They dont even give EPA figures for these trucks.
