how to get the best mpg

i have a 01 8.1l w/allison trans and i am getting a u7198 what do i need to do to get the best gas millage improvements with 87octane thanks

so the 87 tune gets the best gas milage and i wont recive any advantages buy tweaking it any or getting a custom tune? and what kind of improvements can i expect to recive?

On average 1-2 mpg on the highway but I have heard of people getting even better gains.
Mileage gains will be the same on either the 87 or Diablo tune.

I have a 2003 6.0L 4x4 2500 HD ( 125,000 miles) and at times I notice a considerable power loss and keep getting a check engine light when I feel the power loss but the truck has been check out at (2) different Chevy houses. I just ordered the Diablo programmer, will this be able to clear the engine light AND find out what keeps triggering it? An improvement in mileage would be great but the power is what I need to pull my trailer.

The Predator will allow you to read and erase the trouble codes, but will not likely 'fix' this issue.

i havent really noticed any improvement is there anything i can tweak to get some better millage most of my driving is done under 2000 rpms
