I may be loosing it, but to me the jeep slowed down after performing the upgrade to CAI 93? What gives?
A little background; I had to reflash the factory computer before programming - I purchased the kit to program from the computer and loaded the Jeep - That went fine, then I ran the 93 oct tune and realized after the program was finished I ment to use the CAI 93.
I drove the Jeep around the block and parked and re-programmed with the CAI 93 tune. It seemed to work fine, it just seems slower than it was before I added your programmer.
Prior to the tune the Jeep would shift its self @ 6000-6200 RMP, now it is shifting @ 5600 - 5800?
A friend of mine has a '07 GC SRT8 set up the same and his was day and night different after the Preditor.
What Gives!!!!
Thanks

RE:
What he said^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The 93 tune is actually pretty agressive in the timing. If your car does not like it (some do some dont even in the same make of car) it will knock and take out a ton of timing making it slower than the stock tune.

RE:
I have a 2006 300c and tried the 93cai tune with 94 oct gas. I ran 2 tenths of a second slower than I did with the 91cai and 92 oct gas. I think the gas was not up to the task. You can get 100 oct at any race track and that should help with the 93 tune. I know that will not help wit the daily drive cause you wont want to go to the track to fill up all the time and it cost to much. I just run the 91 cai tune except when I drag race at the drag strip.

RE:
i know mine takes a couple hundred miles for the tune to settle in. when you install a tune(at least on mine) the pcm gets reset and when that happens it takes a little bit for it adapt to the tune and your driving style. i'm fairly convinced alot of the reaction people get when they put a tune in is the reset pcm. anyways, i've heard alot of people say the same sort of thing about headers, immediate difference and then it just keeps on getting better as they drive for a while

I assume you are refering to detonation spark knock. If that is the case wouldn't I hear the vehicle knocking? I have stock (Quiet) exhaust and have not heard anything knock wise.Mike_Levy wrote:Its knocking. Simple as that. Do a log and that'll prove it.
I will do a log and see what it is doing.
Thanks for everyones input. I just want my Jeep to perform as well as my buddies, I know it's just a matter of messing with it.
Thanks again

Re: RE:
you usually won't hear the knocking if the knock sensors are doing their job properly. the knock sensors catch the knock before it gets bad and makes the pcm pull timing to avoid it.mopower76 wrote:I assume you are refering to detonation spark knock. log for knock issues and if you are getting knock at wot with the correct octane fuel you will probably just need to add fuel a little at a time until it ceases. after you get that worked out just drive it and the program should start feeling stronger as the pcm adapts to it.
