My customer that I sold the M4000 too is having engine problems and were trying to find out if the tuner is the problem. About every 3,000 miles hes getting about a gallon (so I'm told) of extra oil. According to the oil analysis team (NAPA outfit that the filter and oil sample was mailed too in Oregon) they found diesel in the oil.
We are wondering if the tuner at this point needs to be disabled? Do you see any logic or reasoning to this? Vehicle currently has 230k on it.
Any help is appreciated!

I cant imagine how a tuning device could lead to diesel in the oil, that sounds like a mechanical/poor ring seal issue to me?

I would totally agree. I'm just trying to suggest help where asked. I just didnt know if the increased boost and load could have caused a condition where it might have taken out the rings. Doesn't seem logical to me on a diesel but I dont know alot about diesel motors compared to gas.mikel wrote:I cant imagine how a tuning device could lead to diesel in the oil, that sounds like a mechanical/poor ring seal issue to me?
A Duramax motor should last longer than 230k
