SRT8 CHARGER LOST POWER ON DYNO

Post by Screenedup »

So I dyno'd my 2006 SRT8 Dodge Charger over the weekend.
I dyno'd it bone stock and the result was 373 hp. Then I added an Air Raid cold air intake and throttle body spacer along with the predator programmer and dyno'd it again and came out to 360 hp . What went wrong ? (PT# U7135) I set the 93 octane setting not realizing that there was a 93 octane c.a.i. but why the lose of power ?

What oct fuel did you have in the car. If you had 91 or 92 oct and installed the 93 tune the computer probably pulled some timing. That would account for less horse power. I would also get rid of the throttle body spacer it will cause a drop in horse power all by it self.

Like stated get rid of the POS TB Spacer, and beat down whoever told you to get it. For the same money you should have bought a catch can, which is actually useful.

Second, you definetly have serious knock retard. Read the Sticky above.

got graphs?
post them up....

Id like to see what the A?F did with the tune, and how it looked stock.

I would agree that KR is an issue here too....

I have another question , When I ran my car stock on the dyno no lights came on for example traction control ,abs and esp . Then I installed the cold air and programmer and dyno'd it and all my lights came on , any reason for that? and is it possible that when they came on it sent a signal to the computer and lost power that way ?

That definitely could have done it. The catch can is a can shaped device that gos between the PCV valve and the intake manifold. It pulls the oil out of the air going from the pcv to the intake and it cuts down on the amount of oil that gets into your engine. I have one and they are worth the money. You can get one from diablo.

Here's another definition:

Basically here's what it does.

It "catches" the atomized oil droplets that are in the positive crankcase ventilation airflow coming from the crankcase via the pcv valve into the intake. The purpose of the pcv system is to remove that flow from escaping into the atmosphere and instead to burn it in the engine. (Old engines had crankcase "breather" caps, venting out into the atmosphere).

The catch can captures the oil from that flow and stores it in the can (to be dumped every oil change along with the other old oil).

It helps to keep your intake clean and therefore helps performance.

But how do you get rid of the knock? I am having the same problem with my GC SRT 8. I have a post going elsewhere but I 'm not understanding how to correct the problem.

run a log and look at what ranges you are getting the KN. Then go through and add a little fuel in those ranges and log again. It's going to take a few logs to dial it in, but once you get it you'll be happy with the results.

Am I correct to think that running a log would be in the diagnostics?
Sorry I am a "Nubee" and don't have any experience with OBDII style diagnostics.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again.
