MikeL, I hope this message doesn't show up twice...

Post by Limp1 »

I wrote a long note to you and it disappeared, so I'm writing another to thank you for all your help and to tell you that I'm real close to getting my problem solved with the P0894 code coming on my car. I called Precision Industries and talked to none other than Terry Hedrick, the drag racer from 'some' time ago... He mentioned that my car, (2004 Vette, headers, 373 gears, 2800 stall converter), might be picking up that code because the locking and unlocking is happening because the car is reading the slipping of the converter and it is 'outside the 'window', (the percentage of what the car will allow, I hope that I am explaining well enough), and he said to have the torque converter set to lock at about 45mph, and this should give the car more of the 'window' in which to operate. Does this make sense to you? And this can only be done with a custom tune, right? The car only locks and unlocks while I'm going a steady speed between 70 and 80 mph and I start climbing up a grade, (It sounds like it is downshifting as someone on the Forum said), if it does this 3 or 4 times in a row, then the engine light comes on, it is just annoying and I'd like to stop it from happening. He explained it well to me, I don't know if I did any good, but, I need a custom tune which you said that you would do as soon as I send in my stock tune to you. What about sending in my custom tune also, can I do this too? I'm so close to getting it where I want, shift points, rev limit, everything else, I was wondering if you could just tweak what I have already, and should I take a log of the ride since I have to get the cables and all too? What kind of driving should I do if I take a data log of the vehicle, just WOT, or what? Thanks,as always...........bob.

Well, I believe we have already raised the lockup speed for the converter in the last tune, but I'll have Johan double check.
Send me the backup file and the new tune we sent, and I'll get you fixed up.

Thanks

Mike,
I think that you have me confused with someone else, I don't have the cables and stuff to load the data into the computer to send you...
but, I will as soon as I get the equipment, Thanks again.....bob.

Hmmm, I guess I was confused.
We recently did a tune for another Vette guy with a converter to raise the lockup speeds....since it was not you hopefully that will help.

Thanks
