6.4L idle timer

Post by WildBill »

I just finally updated my predator last night to the 9r12 crom. Already this morning my truck has shut off 3 times. It seems if it idles for 10-15 minutes, my info centre says the truck will shut off in 30 sec. Just wondering if anyone else has seen or heard of this happening.

I haven't had a Ford update for at least 4 months on this truck. It runs pretty much all day every day and until I put the 9r12 in I've never had it shut down on me.

I know there is something in the calibration that will shut them down after extended periods of idling for w/e reason. I thought it was only a california thing though. On the stock tune it will not do this though? Have you tried all the tunes to verify if its just one tune thats causing it?

Just went through all the tunes including factory and the only one with a timer attached is the 80 hp. Any thoughts Don? Might have to switch to a custom tune.

only the 80hp huh? thats very very odd as the extreme tunes and 80 are built off similar starting points. I cant see anything done to the extreme vs the 80 to warrant the idle timer kicking in. Let me take a look at the tunes, ill compare and see if i can see anything that might do that.

looking over the file i see nothing that would cause the issue. However i did perhaps find a way to stop it from happening all together since its obviously something in the tune...perhaps a threshold the trucks hitting? which i find extremely wierd since the extreme tune is more aggressive yet doesn't trip it. i heard that this timer will only kick in when in park and/or with the parking brake set. You are sure your test was accurate correct? w/e the case, we can try it in a custom tune ill send you tomorrow.
