Latest tune for 2006 F250 w/35" tires?

Post by TexasPowerstroke »

Hi,

I am trying to find out if there's a tune available for a 2006 F250 truck with an adjustment for 35" tires.
Would love a proven tune with latest revisions including an adjustment for 35" tires.
The tuner is a Predator U7165
Will be using economy performance or performance, which will give the best MPG crusing down the highway @ 65mph?

Thank you!

PS. If you could email me one that would be great.
My email is in my profile.

You can try sending me a backup, the tire size is adjusted via abs module usually so hence why its not in the tool. I can try it via pcm, i think i have before and it didnt like it.

So are tire adjustments not possible?
Sure would like a speedometer that reads correctly.. was hoping a custom file would help.
Regarding latest tunes, are the files on the download page the most up-to-date for the 6.0L diesel?
I want to make sure I have the latest tune.

I was also wondering if the tuner can be set to increase line pressure in the trans to make shifts firmer.
Thanks!

^reread above

i can try doing a custom tune though im not entirely sure if it will work

The tunes will boost line pressure. Trinity on the other hand as full control of the tcm and further enhances transmission tuning. Its in beta testing right now as we speak. We are implementing many new and exciting features to trinity for diesel stuff so its a bit of a testing process.

Thanks, Don.
Is a backup absolutely required to modify the tunes?
I do-not have access to the truck yet, I will be picking it up and driving 1900 miles back home, the plan is to update the tuner before I leave. That way the speedometer reads true and I will be able to achieve better MPG with DiabloSport.

Is this feasible?
My laptop is coming with me, so if I need to reprogram the tuner to try different files I can do that...

I just realized the tuner I have is for a 03-04 model.
I thought they were all U7165 models but this one is a U7160
Can I use it on a 2006 if it is updated to the latest firmware?

This really stinks........ now I will not have a tuner to take with me!
It says "Ford 6.0" on it and doesn't specify a year but according to your website it only works upto 2004.
Can I update the firmware myself?
I leave in two days and this is a major let down.

No, that tool is very old and does not have enough memory to load the latest firmware for the U7165.

Only option here is the $99 hardware upgrade which will turn it into a U7165.

The difference in filesize between the latest 7165 firmware and 7160 firmware is 70kb. What is the size of the memory?

8r10 for the 7165 is 705kb
Largest 7160 file is 764kb
The older 7165 firmware should not use up all of the memory.

Can you explain how it is due to memory?
DiabloSport ought to provide a program so I can reflash it myself.
I believe it's due to variables programmed into the firmware than can be forced.

I would be willing to run the older 8r10 tunes... I just need a quick solution due to time constraints. I just bought this unit and did not realize it had sat for 6 years.
With all the biased opinions for other tuners out there I was really looking forward to trying the DiabloSport.

I know it can be reprogrammed through my laptop without sending it in. I will be driving 2000 miles over the next 4 days and if I cannot find a way to reprogram it and load the tunes I'm going to look into an alternative.

It was just purchased, I won't have it when I need it, and I'm being asked for more money to make it work. Don't get me wrong, I'm easy to please.. and I hope your team can fix me up via email with quick revision that allows a compatible firmware to be forced.

Thank you
