Fail NJ Emissions - OBD Not Ready

Post by rpers1us »

2006 Ford Mustang GT
Flow Masters American Thunder
U7140
Predator v.9r04

Took car on Monday to MVC(Motor Vehicles) failed - ODB System Readiness
Cats - Not ready, Evap System - Not Ready, O2 Sensors and Heaters - Not Ready.

I though a custom tune may have triggered this so removed my CAI, reinstalled Fatory Intake, and restored my Original Backup Tune.

Engine light goes on and getting codes P0605 and P1000; after about 100 miles of driving the P1000 cleared, but still have Engine Light and P0605 code. Reset Codes and get both codes again and Engine Light.

Today, Shot in the dark installed Diablo Canned Perf 93 tune Drive about 45 miles. No Engine light! No Codes! Go back to MVC. Failed - ODB System Readiness. They tell me Sensors still "not ready" need to drive more.

I just want to get this to pass inspection and then go back to my custome tune. Should I keep the Diablo Perf 93 tune in and keep driving or will I continue to have this problem for passing emissions? Please advice, also is something currupt in my stock tune that I'm getting P0605 when ever I install it?

Thanks,

Rob

Stop by an Auto Zone today to have them check for any codes, etc with their OBD scanner. No codes, but their handy scanner shows Cats and O2 Sensors still showing Not Ready. Any help here or words of confidences that the Predator 93 Perf tune should pass would be nice. The only positive sign so far is that the Evap system in now showing ready. So far I put about 150 miles on the car both in hwy and stop can go traffic, how much more should I go before I get the dealer or someone to look at it?

yeah, it should pass with the canned tune even a canned CAI tune, but you need to do a full drive cycle before the monitors will set.

Thanks Mike,

Well I ran out of patience and restored the Orignial tune again last night and drive around. Now, it completed the full drive cycle successfully, but now I have the P0605 code and engine light on again. Is this a tattle tail code, will this go away on it own? Has anyone else been having problem restoring the original tune with the v.9r04? Could this be upgrade related for 9r03?

Okay making Progress...

I installed the Predator's canned Fatory HP Tune and now all codes are clear, eng light is out and only have the EVAP System to complete it's readyness test. So this is looking good. If this work would this indicate that somehow my Original Backup file got corrupt when I did the 9r04 upgrade? And if so how would I go about fixing that?

the "Factory HP Tune is just a copy of your original backup stock tune file that it has saved in itself...

factory hp tune = original backup... no difference...

and did you restore your original backup to the car before you updated the predator???

and yes, codes will clear after a pcm flash... the pcm flash erases and clears/resets everything... after some driving and a few drive cycles tho, if there's still an issue, you will get those codes back..

Well there seems to be a difference. I was able to pass with the Factory HP tune. All code cleared and have had no problems. Put if I restore the original backup have get the P0605 and P1000 codes and engine light is on. After 2 week they never cleared and I reinstalled my custom tunes. I only have problems with the original backup tune.

I fine for now since I know how to force it to pass inspection, but when or if I ever sell my stang I need to be able to restore the original backup.

What are my options? Can you help me force the Factory HP tune to be my original tune or do I need to get the dealer to flash the ODB and somehow get my Predator reset?

You will have to contact Diablo tech support with the unit powered up in the vehicle and they will be able to help.
