Skip Shift issue...HELP!
Moderator: mikel
Look in the link I posted a couple posts back. I have continued that other forum thread in what I hope is a positive direction, asking all 2010 6spd owners with this issue to post their calid and file here. I linked this thread to that thread also. Let's see if we can get the DS guys as much information as possible.

I've been having the same exact problems mith my predator. I sent my latest tune to Mike at DS last Friday and am hoping there is a fix soon. I have tried running both the 91 CAI and 93 CAI tunes and the skip shift is still there. I have the calibration id of 68054009ac and am running the latest 9r23 update. Hope it gets fixed soon

Question: The PN you mention for the PCM for a 6 speed, is that the same PN shown in the EVIC system when you get into the extended functions and displays? If so, my PN is not the same as the one you have listed, and I do have a 6 speed.fasbird wrote:Did some research on the PCMs. (I work for a Dodge dealership)
At the moment, only four PCMs are available to order for the 2010 Challenger.
If the car has an automatic trans, there is a specific PCM for each of the three engine options. 6.1, 5.7, and 3.5
Only one PCM is available for the 6spd. cars regardless whether is has a 6.1 or 5.7L. I thought this was interesting information.
The PN# for that PCM is 5150504AA
Hope that may be of some assistance to the DS guys.
Let's see if I can explain this, and make sense at the same time.
The part number I gave, is the PN that Chrysler shows listed for the 2010 6.1, 5.7L 6spd. cars.
Here is a question for you. Has your car ever been to a dealership and been flashed?
The reason I ask is this; The physical PN that is on the PCM may not be the PN that the computer reads. Example, let's say you have 5150504AA as the number on the PCM. Then let's say this is the number that shows when accessed by the Star Scan. If your car is flashed with the latest available Chrysler software, the Star Scan will show a different number like 5150509AG (made up number). However, the physical number on the the PCM is still 5150504AA. If you needed to have a new PCM installed, the parts dept. would order 5150504AA. When installed, the tech flashes the PCM to bring it up to date, but the Star Scan will now pick up the number (made up) 5150509AG. The last piece of info is this; Let's say in 9 months a 2010 6spd PCM needs to be ordered. The parts guy goes to look it up, and the PN is 5150509AG. That is what is referred to as a "superceded number" because it has changed from the original 5150504AA. A particular part may carry the same number for years. Or, on the otherhand, a particular number may be superceded 2-??? times. We can't tell you in every case why a number is updated or superceded. We can tell you when it was updated and how many numbers has been assigned to it. In most cases, when a software update is made, the number stays the same, but the letters change at the end of the PN. Example; 1st issue = 5150504AA, 2nd = 5150504AB, and so on. Sometimes, a number may jump from AA to AD and there wasn't a AB or AC ever issued. Understand???
I will get all the PN's for the differnt PCM's that is listed as of today and post them. Thes are the specific numbers needed to order from Chrysler, not the version of the number which may be contained in that PCM.
Hope all that made sense?
Gary

Here is a perfect example of how a manufacturer will change things up. The following are the PN's for the 2010 automatic trans Challengers as listed this afternoon in StarParts. Except the 5.7L number is now superceded into the 6spd PCM number.
6.1L auto = 5150310AD
5.7L auto = 68052005AC --- now superceded to 5150504AA
3.5L auto = 5150301AE
The listing name in the Chrysler catalog is; Module-Power
This is what is referred to as PCM (Power Control Module)

I follow what you're saying, was just curious about PNs that's all. To be brief, no, my car hasn't been to a dealership or service dept, so whatever PCM PN or software/firmware PN was installed during the manufacturing process is what's still in my car. I'm retired military and currently work as a systems test engineer for a U.S. Gov Defense contractor outside of D.C, and have had the "pleasure" of dealing with PN and replacement part issues for a variety of reasons for quite a few years...heh heh. I feel your pain believe me.
Mike Litsch has assured me (via email) that they are working on this issue and should have it resolved soon.

Well, when I spoke with him early last week about a USB-Serial cable problem I was having with the cable sent with my Predator, I also mentioned that I was one of a few people who posted comments about the skip shift issue and he initially told me by the end of the week, or "should have" something by the end of the week. I hope they resolve it soon, but I guess "soon" isn't as soon as I had hoped.fasbird wrote:Did Mike give you a answer as to when "soon" would be?
If we don't hear something before long, maybe we need to start calling. This is after all an advertised feature of the Predator and it needs to work as mentioned in the owner's manual.
