2010 Silverado 6.2l 6speed - Tune or not
2010 Silverado 6.2l 6speed - Tune or not
I recently sold my 2004 and now have a 2010. So I am looking for a new programmer of tune. I realize the the Predator does not program the TCM for my truck and at this point I have to assume that it will never.
So the question is what can a DS tune do for my stock 6.2l with a 6 speed auto.
2010 Silverado, CrewCab Z71. Without a transmission tune, and with no plans for any other mods to the truck except someday tire size. Is the Predator worth it?
Are there any users out there with the 6.2 and experience with DS????

I was real happy with the 87 Diablo tune in my 07 6.0, but certainly not all that happy at this point with the updated version and the 91 Diablo tune installed in my new 2010. I have about 400 miles on the tune and just short of 1000 on the truck and thinking about going back to original and selling the tuner...
Maybe Diablo will work out the bugs, and maybe some of it is I didn't run the truck stock very long so don't really have a good baseline regarding how it ran with the factory stock tune....

XP800R,
Thanks for the input, not exactly what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is.
I am assuming your 6.0 has the 4 speed and the transmission is tuned.
I can only imaging how poor the results might be since my transmission and shifting will remain untouched..

99K1500 - I was real happy with the tune in my old 07 6.0 which had the 4 speed. My post above references my new 2010 GMC 6.2 6 speed with the NHT 3.73 gears....

Thanks, I guess I should have read your signature. Did they at least get rid of the 4 second delay on WOT???

I did and really helped on the 07, but not so sure on the 2010.....

Yes, that delay is removed on ALL truck tunes.

RE: 2010 Silverado 6.2l 6speed - Tune or not
I wish there was some kind of time frame on the TCM support for our vehicles. I am a current DS owner, and would like any kind of information about TCM support....
If I by a current model, will it be able to handle the upgrade to TCM support
Why is DS not able to tune the TCM as other units already do?
Any kind of information would be helpful. I see on the forums that DS is loosing support and most people are referring to it as "trash" or a waste of money. All suggesting a custom tune. All this from a device that was highly supported just a couple of years ago. It seems as with TCM support being so important that DS would offer as much information to its release as possible.
I for one would probably be happy with a canned tune from DS but, can't help but think it is simply not worth the money without TCM support.

I agree. DS is worthless without TCM support.
I just ordered a new 2010 Silverado with the NHT package (6.2L w/ 9.5" rear)
Im looking for a tuner, but from what I have read, TCM support is needed fix shift points. You can make all the power you want, but if you cant get it to the ground, its worthless.

Just wondering what other tuners support TCM adjustments? From everything I have read there is no hand-held device that will support TCM for the 6spd transmissions. The only one that does is like $800 and requires multiple data logs and flashes from a custom tuner.
RE: 2010 Silverado 6.2l 6speed - Tune or not
krom,
You may be correct. I may have mis-spoken about other tuners and the support for TCM. Diablo does have the best support for 2010, or so it seems. I know that TCM is really a hot topic. I really think most people are switching to a custom tune... There must be a good reason for lack of support, especially since it is costing money not to have it.

RE: 2010 Silverado 6.2l 6speed - Tune or not
The fact that no handheld programmer, short of the $800 flashscan that requires custom tuning, supports TCM speaks volumes about the difficulty companies are having getting their devices to write to the embedded TCM. Not only that, keeping the cost of the device the same. Not sure many would go for an $800 predator that supports TCM. I am not advocating either. Customers with custom tunes with TCM support are a happy lot. But it is pretty clear by the TCM trteads here that one should't purchase the predator thinking that TCM support is coming soon. It is well documented that it has been "coming soon" for a long time. Someone buying one with the hopes that TCM sypport will be here soon is setting themselves up for disappointment. If you know you want TCM support why buy a product thaylt doesn't have it?
