06 GTO - to SLP or not to SLP

Post by TrooperKbC »

The Trinity page does not have the option to select the GTO for more specific details, but it is listed as supported.

1.) The Predator is offered with an SLP tune, so I am wondering if there are more performance benefits in the Trinity than the SPL Predator.

2.) What are all the adjustable parameters on my vehicle? (eg. spark adv., tire size, 3rd gear ratio)

The slp tools have the sasme params as the standard u1791 Predator these days:

Timing Table 1000-1800rpm (+15/- 40%)
#
Timing Table 2000-3800rpm (+15/- 40%)
#
Timing Table 4000-7000rpm (+15/- 40%)
#
Fuel Table 2000-3800rpm (+/- 20%)
#
Fuel Table 4000-7000rpm (+/- 20%)
#
Idle (+ 400rpm / -400rpm)
#
Rev Limiters
#
CAGS ON/OFF (skip shift)
#
COT ON/OFF (catalytic converter overtemp protection)
#
COT enable time
#
Fan Calibration
#
Adjust for different injector size
#
Internet Updateable

Trinity has lots more user options, but same tuning parameters.

I'm not sure what your mean by user options vs. tuning parameters.

I have changed my tire and rear gear sizes, and want to be able to fix my speedometer. If the speedometer is incorrect, won't the Trinity display incorrect 1/4 mile, 0-60 times, etc.?

On the timing and fuel table adjustments, what are the increments of adjustment (ie. 1%, .5%)?

If I get the thing custom tuned, can the tuning exceed the manually adjustable parameters (ie. +20 fuel, or -500rpm idle)?

Yes, custom tuning can go well beyond what is available inthe adjustable parameters in the tool.

Two questions:

1.) What are the increments of adjustment on the timing and fuel tables?

2.) How do I get the Trinity to display the correct speed, 1/4 mile time, 1-60 time, etc.?

timing is in 1* increments...

fueling is in %...

use the drag tree functionality to do the 1/4 mile, 0-60 times... that's under the racing menu...

I understand the drag tree. I should have been more clear in my question that referred to a previous post. Let me rephrase. How do I get the Trinity to display the correct speed, 1/4 mile time, 1-60 time, etc., now that I have changed my tire and ring gear sizes?

...after such timely responses to my previous posts, I am taking your recent silence as your way of saying the Trinity would be a waste of money.

It calculates the times from the speedo, so if it is calibrated properly, the times are correct as well.

Thank you sir. Since we are such morons, maybe you should answer it rather than calling people names.

if you changed gears/tires, you'd need a custom tune to compensate for the gears, tires can be adjusted in the Trinity itself, then the speedo is correct, and there is no problem.

Thanks guys! Looks like I may be getting a Trinity afterall. Just curious, for the "custom tune" gear change compensation, is that something that has to be done at the mechanic or is that something you can add as a "custom tune" on the Trinity?

it's not anything that the mechanic can do, hehe...

you would need to get a custom tune file created for your vehicle... then you'd import it to the trinity, then install the custom tune to your vehicle, and you're all set.
