Just curious, but since the Predator has canned tunes for AirAid,K&N and a few others, but not Spectre (there must be a differences between tunes or you wouldnt have them in the first place) -- what do you guys think would be the closest performance tune for the Spectre 9925 4" intake? http://www.spectreperformance.com/#CATALOG.9925
best tune for Spectre CAI?

RE: best tune for Spectre CAI?
I would try the K&N tune. Check your short term fuel trims after driving and see what they are. Then post the results and someone can help you with adjusting the MAF.

RE: best tune for Spectre CAI?
Ok, This is for the Spectre CAI WITH the inner black choke removed
Got the K&N performance tune on there...increased the MAF 25%
Steady Driving ~65mph, OD is off. (3rd gear)
Short Term Fuel Bank #1 .. floats between -1.5 and 7
Short Term Fuel Bank #2 .. floats between -1.5 and 4
I'm not sure of the LTFTs are right (or even helpful)...this was the first log I took with the tool..
Long Term Fuel Trim Bank #1 .. min 10, max 23
Long Term Fuel Trim Bank #1 .. min 11, max 22

RE: best tune for Spectre CAI?
can you check it at a steady 1800-2000rpm cruise?
The LTFTs should stay pretty consistent...

RE: best tune for Spectre CAI?
Ok, checked tonight on the way home... Why are the LTFT's so high and the STFT seems ok??
2k rpm, highway driving with cruise
STFT: -2 to +4%
LTFT: 21% pretty steady
This is with the K&N 93 octane tune (93 oct gas in the truck of course)
MAF curve is already at 25% (it set the CEL if I left it at anything less than 10)
Only other adjustments were to get the speedo correct.
The CAI is straight through 4" alum tube, moving massive air.
I dont hear any misfires and seems to run pretty strong, but I should be able to get the LTFTs down right? Any ideas what I can adjust? Fueling maybe?

RE: best tune for Spectre CAI?
Because the tune is way off. Basically the trims have learned the 21% correction and are "instantly/short term" adjusting -2 to +4% of fuel. You Should try running the 85mm tune and see how that works.

Re: RE: best tune for Spectre CAI?
Well, I'm not sure which tune the "85mm" is since its not listed in the available tunes...however I did manage to get it dialed in.tuningss wrote:You Should try running the 85mm tune and see how that works.
I tried a few different tunes, but most were worse than the origionally suggested K&N tune (even with MAF adjustments). However, it dawned on me that most CAI's are 3.5" or less: K&N, AirAid, Roush, etc.. All except the JLT intake. That tube on the JLT is so short that the tune would have to be radically different and be set for having more air available. The Spectre CAI is a 4" tube, oh, and I removed the black insert (to choke it down to 3" ID) allowing even more airflow than Spectre intended. Anyway, the net result of this was JLT had to be pretty close.
In a nutshell, the JLT 91 octane tune (91 gas, of course), coupled with increasing the MAF curve 16% got me almost perfect:
0% LTFT
-2 to +4% STFT
Rock on!
Now that i've gotten this far...is there anything else I can do to squeze out a few more ponies or should I stop here?
BTW, I'm about 45mins drive from Diablosport (I'm in Pembroke Pines), if you'd like to take a look at the trucks setup or tune for future customers
Thanks,
Mark

Good job dialing it in! I had to do alot to get my '04 F150 dialed in with the AEM kit, that was before the latest revision had came out though.
