2000 Cummins ISC 8.3 EPP wiring harness

Post by ScottT »

Hi,

I just got an EPP for a Cummins ISC 8.3 (2000 model year). The fuel pressure connector on my truck is rectangular vs. triangular as provided on the wiring harness. The MAP sensor looks like the right one.

I did check all the connectors on the fuel pump, the only three wire plug was rectangular (it did go to a pressure sensor).

The plug on the harness provided with the unit looked like the J1939 data protocal plugs, but there weren't any on the fuel pump. Which brings up my second question, do you have a Trinity type reader for the J1939 HD truck protocal? I'm looking for a digital type gauge setup for my truck. I'm not looking to tune with it, just something to bring up codes and especially engine parameters during travel.

Thanks!

The tech support line hold time is pretty long (been on hold for ~25 minutes now).

I'm not able to get resolution through your website/forum after a month and a half of asking. (the same website/forum that your message while on hold touts is so wonderful).

No replies to my posting.

You have my contact information through my profile - no email or calls...

Do you feel you are providing good service after the sale?

I'm getting ready to firesale this thing on eBay.

I was under the impression this had been handled, I apologize.

I have someone looking into it right now.

Scott,
Unfortunately we have run into a small issue here. After checking through all of our 8.3L files, I can’t find anything similar to the harness you posted above. I went ahead and did a bit of research to find out that between 2000 and 2001 there were a handful of 8.3L Cummins which were released with an entirely different harness system. In the CAPS lifespan, they actually changed the harness plugs 3 times. There is a release bulletin on this exact issue done by Cummins and it looks like you may be able to purchase an adapter through Cummins directly. This is the first time we have run into your "type" of harness. I am sorry but it looks like we do not have a harness kit to fit your current setup and your only option would be to contact Cummins.

If you don’t wish to contact Cummins’ for the adaptor and would like to return your Extreme PowerPuck, please contact our sales department. They will get you taken care of.

Again-sorry for the inconvenience.

Max & Mike,

Thanks for jumping on this. Would you have a Cummins adapter part number or the Cummins bulletin number?

Thanks!

I have a 2001 motorhome 8.3 with the rectangular plug that Scott is showing. Does anyone have a solution to the wire harness plug?

The only available solution to our knowledge is to contact Cummins for the harness that has the triangular connectors, i dont have a part number, but it is apparently available.

Thanks
