C&L Tuner Update/Upgrade

I have 2006 Ford Mustang GT that was fitted with a C&L CAI, and programmed with the CL7140 tuner. I will be purchasing a 2008 Mustang GT in three weeks. I already know the actual hardware (i.e.the intake) will bolt up to the new one. However, I am wondering if the tuner, in its current form, will work with the newer vehicle? If not, will I therefore:

1: Need to purchase a new tuner? If so,

2: Will the CL7145 be compatible? And,

3: Can my current CL7140 be sent in to be reprogrammed or retrofitted?

4: If you have any pricing information on the above, that would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you in advance for your help.

1. Yes, you will have to buy a new tuner. The CL7140 is compatible only with the 05 & 06 Mustang GT's.

2. There is no CL7145 to my knowledge, only the U7145, which is compatible with the 07 models. If no major changes are made to the 08's programming, then the U7145 should be compatible. But you'll have to wait and see.

3. The CL7140 cannot be reprogrammed to my knowledge.

4. Suggest you wait to see if the U7145 is compatible before doing a price search.

The U7145 should be updated soon to work on the 08 models.

Hey realcloak,
I recommend that you go with a U7145, rather than a CL version. I went with CL7140 for my 05 and while it works great, it does lag behind the U7140 in terms of updates, etc. In hindsight, I should have done a bit more research first. You can probably sell the cl7140 on eBay and recoup a bit of cash toward U7145.

Actually, the most recent update for the CL7140 supports all 05-08 Stangs.
