UD7131 Why Predator In Addition To

Post by KSzabo »

I bought a used 2004 Dodge 3500 that has a UD7137 Powerpuck in it, but the original predator programming was flashed to stock by a dealer last July. My question is why do I need the U7130 Predator programming with this Powerpuck? Will it work without it? The truck had thrown some codes before the fuel pressure relief valve died last week. A couple of weeks ago it threw the following codes:
P0148 Fuel Delivery Error
P0236 MAP Sens Too Hi Too Long
P0193 Fuel Rail Press Sens Hi
P0069 MAP-Barometric Press Correlation
It wouldn't start and had it towed to dealer and the cleaed codes and it ran. Last week it was in for brakes and the fuel pressure relief valve began leaking badly, so it was replaced for $600. Is any of this Predator related? Or PowerPuck only related? I keep the PP switch on low.

The leak was likely just old parts, not uncommon.

The tunes are different that the pucks, and can be run together if you choose to do so.

Thanks for the reply, so the PowerPuck UD7131 will work by itself alone without the predator tune? What advantage would adding the Predator tune give the 2004 Cummins 5.9 High Output?

I don't believe you get double hp or anything. I run just the predator, my brother runs just the puck. Have not tried to run both but it has been said that you get a bit more bottom end or start off power using the combo. there are seperate stack tunes so that you don't add to much fuel pressure and timeing. Every time I read a thread with this question makes me want to grab his puck and give it a go. Maybe I will want one too.
