2006 VortecMax - Unknown Error()

Post by sceptre »

Hey guys, just picked up a U7192 9r11 for my 2006 Sierra VortecMax (1500 6.0L Auto).

I hooked it up and backed up my current setup perfectly but it would not load a new program. It would go 5% into it and stop with Unknown Error().

I have an ECM interface module for my alarm system, which I removed but it made no difference. The only other thing I can think of may be that I do not have the factory stereo system. I have an aftermarket CD player but do not have any ECM interface modules as I really dont like the chimes anyway.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Many times the harnesses used to connect aftermarket stereos will cause these types of issues.

i have no fancy harness to connect to my stereo. I use a simple harness that allows me to use power and ground out of the factory harness. I use RCA's for running my amps and thats it. The only thing that I could see causing an issue would be the fact that I do not have the original stereo hooked up.

Nay changes to the factory harness can be a problem, Id look into disconnecting the stereo.

Id rather you try disconnecting it.
It is the wiring on the bus that I am worried about.

Took another try at it this evening....I did not pull the stereo as I didn't have time. I pulled the Radio, Radio Amp and Info fuses as well as hooked up a battery charger and tried agian. This time it went through and said "Unable to read vehicle type(1)" when it was trying to put new program onto truck.
