Code 10 with Windows 7 (driver not installing) odd fix?

I have been fighting this for a few weeks now and found an interesting fix for it.

I have used a USB cable that is about a year old and it worked perfect. I then tried 4 USB cables from the kits that I have just recently ordered not a single one of them worked ???

I though it was a fluke, so I tried a customers USB cable that I knew was old (not sure how old) and it worked as well.

The new cables will work with my Windows XP without any issues, its only when I am tuning with the new laptop with 7 on it that causes any issues.

Both laptops have the same prolific drivers installed (latest version) and the latest version of the Downloader. I am not sure if the chip set in the current cable kits has been changed or why the older cables would work vs the newer units on Windows 7.

All the cables are the blue short units that don't appear to be different visually.

Might be something you want to look into.
