mass airflow sensor error

Post by 4shane76 »

I am currently running the high performance high octane program on the u7193.I have 2004 chevy silverado 6.0L 2500. I keep getting a check engine light and when I had the mechanics at work check it with their reader it said mass airflow sensor error and mix too lean on bank one. Is this due to the programmer or can I trust this error code to be true. I have purchased an air flow sensor but want to make sure before I change it as it was expensive and if it is just due to the programmer I could return it. T.hanks

What was the code, P0101?

What was the lean code?

Your predator will read and clear codes too ;)

what what airflow sensor did you buy? I hope not an aftermarket one... you should only be using a stock GM MAF sensor...

I never got the code numbers he just told me what they were. He cleared them though. The replacement sensor is an acdelco. I have not installed it yet. So does the programmer give false errors ever?

Should I wait until the light comes back on then get you the codes before changing it?

ok, cool.. that's a stock GM MAF...

I'd wait and see what the codes are that you get again... it may not be the MAF...

and no, the programmer doesn't give false trouble codes... it scans/reads/clears and reports trouble codes exactly like a dealers techII tool would...

so if/when you get the CEL again, use it to scan for trouble codes, and post up what they are...

you may just need to clean your MAF sensor... get a can of CRC Mass Air Sensor Cleaner from your local auto store...

this is what it looks like:

Cool, I'll wait to read them again then and it would be cool if all I had to do was clean it. Thanks for the link too. I will re-post when I get to read the errors again. Thanks.

Ok the error is p0101 mass airflow sensor cct. range/performance. Should I try cleaning the existing one before replacing or just replace it?

Mike, do I need to replace the stock tune before changing it or does it matter?

no, you do not have to restore the stock tune before replacing the MAF sensor...
