8r38 Question

Post by hotdog »

2006 Mustang Gt Conv.
Flowmaster Mufflers
Roush CAI

Just installed 8r38 revision to my predator and found that it now has a tune for Airaid CAI. I believe the Airaid and Roush CAI are the same, and need to know if the tune is with the removable venturi left in or taken out? Please advise. Thanks!

You're correct. The Roush CAI is the AirRaid CAI with the Roush name on it.
The insert allows the CAI to be used without having to install a tune. So remove the insert if you're going to use the tune in the 8r38 revision.

A/F Ratio

With the Airaid tune installed can you give me some idea of what the A/F ratio is? I'm still a little new at this and trying to learn. Thanks!

The WOT(wide open throttle) A/F ratio should anywhere from 12.5-13.0. Anything lower and it's too rich, which will waste gas and possibly clog up the catalytic convertors. Anything higher and it's too lean, which can cause pinging.
But since different engines run at different A/F ratios when using the same tune, the best way to determine what yours is at is to check it either on a dyno, or with a wideband meter.
