Lets say you update your predator with a new CROM but do not restore first and it clears out your original. If you go back to the car does the predator think the performance tune installed is a stock tune and make a backup of that or would it recognize that a performance tune is installed and not work. Hasn't happened but I just like to know things like this in case.
Predator part number: U7135

Question regarding CROM update

RE: Question regarding CROM update
well, either way, you'll lose your original backup stock tune... heh...
then, it depends on the model/revision of the predator - cuz I've seen some that will just backup that tune as the original backup, and have seen others that will not - it will give you an error saying that the tune in the car is not a stock tune - and it won't let you do anything.

well, since you're already on a newer revision, it probably won't let you update the crom.. it SHOULD popup a warning telling you that you have to restore the original backup to your car first...
but, if it doesn't and it just updates it... then you'd lose it...
and no, you can't get the file back into the predator as the "original backup"... you'd have to import it to the predator as a custom tune...

So what happens if your predator for whatever reason doesn't work anymore, you have the backup saved on your computer and you purchase another predator. How would you ever be able to restore your original backup as an original and not a custom tune?06MonteSS wrote:and no, you can't get the file back into the predator as the "original backup"... you'd have to import it to the predator as a custom tune...
You can use the back up of the original tune to save your butt if you screw up. The only way you have a problem that you will have to pay for and get diablo to help you with is if you take the car to the dealer with out retuning it to stock and they re flash your computer. Then the tuner will no longer recognize your car.
