expecting the trinity tomorrow, any idea on actual MPG gains

Post by zuke83 »

i have a 05' excursion. 6.0L. i know it wont be like the Dodges and their 40mpg, but just not sure what to expect. the web site says something like 3-5mpg, but a ford tech said i should expect around 4-8mpg on the highway.

i was just hoping there were a few other 6.0L excursion owners with some actual fill up to fill up results.

thanks.

Average is 3-5 MPG on most trucks...and I've never seen a Cummins get over 25 mpg....?

well i got just that on the first 30 mile trip doing about 70mph little overhead ave mpg was reading about 3-4mpg higher than normal. i will definately see what i am getting when i drive to sandiego from phx in a few weeks.

my buddy has a dodge and a bully dog, with intake, exhaust... his little ave mpg computer climbed over 40mpg while i was riding with him, now i know these little computers are usually a bit off, but it still seemed impressive.

the main reason i went with diablosport instead of the bully dog or the other brands was mainly this forum, i saw quick responses for issues and easy updates. plus it looks so cool to have digital dials.

ill post what i get, i sure hope its more like 5mpg, i plan on doing 75mph the whole way, so we will see.

Be sure to log the milaege and do the math as well, often the overhead readout is not accurate.

so, i finally did a long enough trip on the highway to see my actual mpg for the tank. since the diesel foams up so much here in this hot temp in phx, i used the line in the filler tube as a guide to make sure i filled up the same.

after driving from phx to sandiego and almost all the way back the mpg digital read out was averaging around 23mpg. the tank to tank math gave me approximately 22mpg. i am pretty happy with that, driving 75-80mph with both a/c's blowing full blast and still getting 22mpg, not too shabby.

also, on the way to and from work, it is all flat country highway out in the desert, without the a/c on and cruise control on 50mph i average around 30mpg!! with the a/c on i average around 25 or so mpg. i thought the readout was lying at first until i filled up at almost 1000miles to a tank. its almost paid itself off already.

i have been using the middle tune.

Mike, are the tunes better on the trinity than on the preditor?Or is the difference being a different calid on the Excursion?I would try the trinity if I could get that kind of fuel mileage on my F-350.
