Cant get usb-serial cable to connect-vista 64bit

I just recently bought a u7137 for my dodge truck. Was very happy to get the unit and now im getting pissed because I cant get the unit to connect to my computer. I followed the instructions but it still said device not functioning due to no drivers.

Ive tried many drivers online to see if a different driver would work. Each time I went into Device Manager and hit uninstall device/driver. Then unplugged cable and restarted computer. Then loaded a driver then plugged in cable. Still everytime I cant get a connection. I thought it was a bad cable(It came with the diablosport all ordered from Autoanything.com). So I took the cable to a good friend of mine that is good with computers(he is going to college for computer networking). After some foul words he got it to connect to his custom built desktop computer running windows 7. And we did an update on the device but we never loaded the .crom file onto it. He put the driver he got to work on my external HD and I went home hoping it would work. Well it still didnt. Now Ive given up and need help.

Hopefully someone can help me with this. If it was as easy as going back to my buddy to get it fixed I would but he left for college already.

Please inform me of a fix for this problem.
