Well, my tuning has come to an abrupt halt. Failure of my cooling fan. Don't worry, it was happening before I even contemplated purchasing the Predator. I will not get it back till Monday. I will say that the 45 minutes of driving on the new tune seemed to be peppier, although still very bland out of the hole, and MPG was back up to 19-20. Things are progressing in the right direction. Maybe I still have some hope.

Once I get it back and get the performance tune back in (restored to factory due to the fan faliure and taking it in for warranty work), I will restore the +4 injector slope and start again on looking at the O2 values. When I get the, I guess I am looking for a 880mV - 9xxmV values. How do I adjust the WOT fuel and WOT spark to compensate for low or high readings?

Thanks! More to come.

Ol' Yeller is back

I got the SSR back and am back to tuning with the Predator.

Here is what I have so far:
Ran at 70 on cruise, average LTFT was -3.95 on bank 1 and -3 on the other. I adjusted the LTFT to +4, now I am running -1.56 on bank 1 and -0.78 on bank 2 after letting it relearn the adjustments for about 50 miles.

With the adjustment to the LTFT, I get O2 sensor readings of 885mV-995mV at WOT. In case it is needed, I also noted the LTFT at WOT, and they were +4.69 and +3.91 at WOT.

I am not sure where to go with this now as for the parameter adjustments. I have no AFR on the 7193, so cannot follow 06MonteSS's tuning guide.

Also, I am looking to change my stock muffler to a Flowmaster Super 44 sometime in the future. I assume that I will have to go through all these tunes again, or should they stay consistent?

Thanks!

Hey Joe...

your adjustments you made sound correct, but the ltft's at WOT sound way off....

can you send me a log, or a bunch of numbers if you can't save logs???

06Monty06 -

The 7193 does not log. I will see if I can get you some numbers later today. I was just watching the numbers as I was driving for the 70 MPH cruise speed LTFT. I did not have anyone who could ride along with me to write things down. I would see a slight variation up to +1.56 and +0.78 when going up hills and things like that.

I will try and see if I can use my video camera to capture some data to re-validate LTFT and send along the numbers.

When it comes to the WOT LTFT, where should the numbers be as compared to mine? When I go to WOT, the LTFT numbers go directly to the +4.69 and +3.91 and do not change. I stayed on the throttle for about 10 seconds (and about 110 mph...). Also, is it "normal" to have this amount of variation in numbers from the two banks?

Thanks for your help. I saw your IM from last night, but I was already in for the evening. I will be around for most of the day, so give a shout if you see me on.

Well, I have taken another small step back and forward again in regards to the tuning.

It was recommended that I pull the PCM fuses to clear the tables and start from scratch on letting the SSR relearn the tables. I did so, and set the Predator tune back to the standard Predator performance tune (removing the +4 injector slope adjustment). Response seems to be better right off, but still poor off the line.

I drove the car for about 30 miles and re-ran the data logging. I was still close to my original injector slope adjustment, with it now needing a +5. I now need to drive it for a bit to see if I have those dialed in as needed, but they seem to be holding very steady.

Now, at WOT, I now have O2 sensor readings in the low-mid 0.8V (800-850mV on Predator), which are down from the previous readings with the old fuel tables. LTFT is showing at about +2.94 during the WOT run, which were lower than before, but alot has changed.

Any suggestions from these numbers, as I think that the LTFTs are going to be fine with the +5 injector slope adjustment...??

Thanks all!

no gains???

I just wanted to say that I have the same tool model as you and the tune is awesome! You probably don't feel to much right now because of the 'Lack' of modifications. When you start putting on mods to your vehicle, that is when the Predator works best. You might have to be at a track to 'see' the difference right now. Hang in there, it is a great tool to have, just ask Lew. Right Lew???.............bob.

What mods do you have on your vehicle? I am not going to go crazy on the SSR, but may do some exhaust work and maybe a 4.10. No SC or other higher-ends mods like that in my future. I am actually a pretty tame driver, but wanted to see what I could do for some relatively low cost mods to kick up the overall performance.

Thanks!

Mike or Lew -

When I adjust the injector slopes, I read somewhere that the WOT Fuel parameter should also be changed by the same amount? Is this correct? If so, would it be adjusted for both the 2K-4K and 4K-7K ranges...??

I think I may be getting things close. If I can just get the throttle hesitation at the low end licked... I have a TM thread opened about that topic.

Thanks Gents!

yes and no..

it will probably need to be changed, but not necessarily by the same amount...

for instance, my car has the slope at -5%, but my PE rpm ranges are at +2% and +3%...

as far as the TM goes, I'm chatting with you right now on IM about that and other stuff... ;)
