I'll be honest...

If you guys release a single license predator CMR, you will seriously hurt your CMR delaers. Unless the pricing is about 700-800 per vehicle, customer will not seek out CMR dealers even if they do not know what they are doing.

Me owning a dyno it's tough to sell a tune for $250 including dyno time. People just don't want to pay for a tune. One of the reasons i use to "charge" for it is the ability to change everything which they with just the tool cannot. If they could change their own stuff it's going to be much harder to justify a SILLY PRICE FOR A GOOD TUNE AND DYNO.

Maybe it's the market here.

people are just cheap right now. Most customers dont want to pay for anything to get the car tuned. They want the predator/trinity to be calibrated for all of their parts out of the box. The majority of customers will never buy extra software that they dont know how to use on top of the tool that they barely understand how to use. And I doubt that DiabloSport will want to release a single user license without having a dedicated CMR tech staff which would require a high priced package. Relying on forums for help is an unrealistic proposition in my opinion. DiabloSport always relies on in-house control. I cant imagine them letting that go.

First time they blow their car up on a rented dyno, they'll be back handing you a laptop and saying, 'can you tune this for me?'...

I know this is late but I have been tuning harleys for years I also have a dyno and with all the closed loop programs out there and adjustable tuners I have increased my work load to straighted out self tuned problems. Just read one of the latest post here where someone wants to know how to get back to a stock tune due to over tuning. Tuning is a drug. You just can't stop. I also use my dyno to increase sales in basic maintanance as I can determine any problems with the drivetrain etc. Then the tune always come up and whala. Look at these other guys....Blackbear, etc they get tons of business, even though everyone can buy efi live....just my .02

I'm very interested in single use CMR software.

Reason being, I am based in the UK and we have not one CMR dealer anywhere. We are totally reliant on the tool and any modifications we do to our cars we have to be sure that the guys at Diablosport can offer a canned tune for us that will suffice.

If I had access to the CMR software, I could take my car + predator + laptop/CMR software to a local dyno and work with the operator to get the car tuned spot on.

This would be a big help to us guys based in the UK that love the Mustang and Predator.

Cheers

Requesting CMR software for

Post by bmtrucking »

It always comes to money, I've called a the only two or three cmr dealers remotely close to me and the next one is over 400kms away and not one of them off a custom tune they all said all the do is sell the units.
So I guess if a cmr dealer can't or won't offer the damn custom tuning then maybe some of end users that are smarter than the average bear should have access to the software without getting raped for our cash its not like the tuners are cheap in the first place!
Just my opinion thx.

sounds like maybe you did not click the cmr tuner filter in the dealer locvator, and you were just calling shops that sell Predators, not the CMR tuning shops.

No they won't. Pride? They will still blow it up or take it to someone else just so you don't know they blew it up in the first place. They will look for someone to do it free or for $60.00. I had a guy here that searched me out and knew that I did predator tunes and wanted me to do his tune and he didn't want to pay... I told him... Build me a house and I wont pay you.. how about it? Anyways... he wonders around the shop just to get me acclimated with him.... I just hope this CMR stays for dealers and at the price as it is. As of now, I haven't been able to sell many tunes and still have not got a ROI, not even HALF.

And you know what? the highest horsepower cobras and the fastest cobras on the street have been tuned by me. Want to know something even funnier? THey all LOST HP after my tune... (most about to blow up from lean mixtures). IN the end they ran faster and the car felt SOOOO much stronger....

Still... Hard to sell.. Why?? I don't know. Imagine giving the ability to PIRATE this software.... We all go bankrupt.

I follow your argument, but SCT has sold their PRP for a few years now, and it seems that their dealers are still doing well and selling plenty of tunes.

My best advice here is to get into Dodge tuning, as odd as it may sound.
The HEMI guys do not seek out cheap tunes, they seek out good tunes, and are willing to pay for them. It is a more 'mature' crowd, with a little more money to spend.
I have said it time and again, but the HEMI guys buy Heads/Cams like the Stang guys buy CAIs.
I have heard stories of shops seeing a ROI after their first week of tuning HEMIs for the public...
Even shops that do JUST SRT4s are making good money selling tunes!

I am sure that there are plenty of interested parties, myself included, that want this software......having been waiting years for it....and would be willing stumble through it with forum/users being the only support for things like, how do I change A/F ratio....do not expect tuning support and would be willing to sign a waiver...please release a CMR for end users!!!!!

Well I've been looking for tuning software for my application and was certainly hopeful when I found this thread. I started at the beginning (2007) and up to the current date. Looks like it's not going to happen I guess? I had already contacted my local speed shop for a tuner from diablo. But I really wanted something more tweakable. So to put it simply, am I wasting my time?

This is my thinkings also. Do I need to look into a different route for tunning my car?

Well at least your truthfull. I ended up selling the dsp to go with the sct/prp for my srt-4. At least the dsp holds it value.
