1999 mustang GT need help tuning

Post by will2045 »

okay so im new to this and just got a used preditor from a buddy for 100 bucks because he went to SCT I needed it to change the gear ratio because i went 4.10s in my car. but now im more interested in what it can do for actual gains. because i put on the "performance tune" that was on the tuner and just changed the gear ratio and shut off the speed limiters and thats about it.

now im not sure if its the tune or the gears or both but im getting 12.4MPG on the highway at 80 mph with the motor at 3000RPMs obviously this is horrible and i thought the tune was supposed to help this.

like i said im brand new to this and im just trying to get the most out of this thing i can. so even if someone only points me in the right direction that would help a lot. ive got the PC interface and everything for the tuner so if someone knows where i should look or what tunes i should try and download.

sorry if this isnt in the right spot or following forum rules just trying to get pointed in the right direction here.

yeah.. 80mph at 3 grand, hehe... not going to help that... would get better mileage if you drive normal at 65-70mph....

okay thats fine with me. but heres another question. the preditor tune that comes on the unit does it affect timing?

and also i have basic bolt ons but im adding xe270ah the stage 2 comp cams. im told i should look into a "email" tune. i dont know what that is but common sense would say its someone that knows how to write tunes and emails them to you for a fee? so if this is accurate would i benefit enough from one to make it worth the money with the bolt ons and cams? (i also run a 100 shot of nitrous but only for the strip i dont use it in road racing)

also what are the reasons why i would update the software? i mean aside from it being newer what would i gain out of it? thanks again.
